mewalz's Full Review: LG WM3431 Front Load All-in-One Washer / Dryer
I am extremely pleased with the ease of installation and use. This machine cleans extremely well, and dries well, but with a much different feel than traditional dryers. There is a definite learning curve to making this machine work to the best of its abilities, and here are some things that I have learned:
Large objects like a mattress cover are difficult for the machine to balance in the spin cycle, and an unbalanced load will prevent the spin cycle from completing. if you fill the drum near its capacity with other clothing/towels it will balance more easily because there is something to counterweight the large mass. You can do this large load and divide in half for drying.
If I simply wash 9 lb. loads, that the machine handles washing and immediate drying like a champ. When I line dry, I am amazed at how much 14-15 lbs of laundry is. I almost never reach this (for two people).
Clothes will be surprisingly humid out of the dryer, but this evaporates fast. i like the "more" setting to get a dryness comparable to a regular dryer. If you hook the water up to your kitchen sink, you have to remember to adjust the water temp at the faucet to be colder during the dry that than the wash (if you are home to do this), because the cold water increases the efficiency of the condensation action of the dryer. If you're not there - err on the cold side.
I take my clothes out ASAP, and find very little wrinkling sets in.
Take your time leveling this baby, and vibrations will diminish. we had to mess around with this a couple of times so our teeth wouldn't chatter. Now the machine can barely be heard out of the room. It still shakes the floor a lot when the spin is at 1/2 speed. At full speed, its very smooth, and the rest of the cycle is too. We have ours out in the kitchen, on rubber cups and rug slip mat, between the fridge and stove and no problem. LG does suggest insulation between the stove and washer.
Last, my delivery guys took the transit bolts with them (I needed them for a future move). The store said they couldn't locate them, but offered to take out the ones on the floor model. LG sent me new ones for no charge, instead. VERY friendly, helpful service, and its a real person on the other end.
