When I decide to move up to a larger sized portable CD pack I knew that I would be hard pressed to find one that would be as nice as the Asics Reflective CD Waist Pack. The simple fact is I carry around way too much junk and the Asics one is just too small for me. Its the perfect size for when I am going for a walk or at the gym but if I need to stop at the store or run errands, its just not practical. Since I have always had great luck with Case Logic products I decided to try out their Koskin CD Player Case. When I first saw it at their website I thought that it was some kind of faux leather type product and was clueless that the Koskin mentioned in the title was actually the name of the material. Its a sort of blend between a plastic and nylon but it is ultra durable yet lightweight. I started looking around on the web and found this for a few dollars less than what the Case Logic website had it listed so I decided to order it and give it a try. Now that I have had this for a while I can say that this is one of the nicest CD carriers around especially if you want to carry around other things with it.
Case Logic Koskin CD Player Case
One of the coolest things about this case is that you can store your CD player in one of three sections; the front, the back or the middle. If you have one of the smaller thin CD players then the front section is perfect for it, if it is larger then the back or center one would be a better choice. Case Logic claims that this can carry up to three CD jewel cases but if you want to carry more then consider investing in the Memorex Slim Jewel Cases, if you use these you can double the number of CDs you can store inside this. Most of the time I slide the CD player into the front pocket and use the center one for money, my cellular phone and identification. You wont be able to jam a lot of stuff in this but it is safer to carry valuables inside the center pocket because it can be zipped shut.
There is a side snap that you can use for keys or for your headphone cord if you use ear bud styled ones; the ones with the headband will fit in this area but its way too bulky and tends to get caught on everything that you pass. The snap lock type fastener on the strap is oversized so it is easy to get on and off while you are wearing it and adjusting the length of the strap is pretty easy as well. This is pretty easy to keep clean, just wipe off the surface with a damp rag and allow it to dry, same thing for the inside. There arent any cleaning instructions with this but I am assuming that you could throw this in the washer if it gets really dirty but I havent dropped this in the mud or had cows walk over it yet so Im sticking with the wet rag method for now.
Dual Strap
You can wear this over your shoulder or around your waist, there is enough slack on the strap to wear it either way so you really get two different types of bags for the price of one. Most guys wouldnt really want to wear this over their shoulder, that might lower their testosterone level or make them ultra paranoid thinking that people are assuming that it is a purse. Most of the time I wear this as a waist pack because its easier to get stuff done without having it flipping around. Since my CD player has an anti-skip feature to it I dont really have to worry about it bumping into things, I guess its just personal preference.
Price
Case Logic sells their at their website for $16.99 but as I mentioned, I found this for a little less at another site. Is it worth it? To me it is. It has enough space that I can care the necessities, its lightweight but very durable, doesnt scratch or get marred like leather and lets me have my tunes with me whenever I want to ignore people, hit the gym or just chill out. Now that I have had this for a while I can say that it definitely is worth the asking price of $16.99 but hey, if you can find it for a few dollars less elsewhere, thats an even better deal. I never saw these at any local stores but if any place would have them, it would be Target since they do carry a lot of other Case Logic items. If this sounds like something that you would be interested in, check there first before you start searching online.
The Bottom Line
If you are looking for a well made, lightweight CD carrier then this is a nice one to check out. Its not all that fancy but hey, do you really need to draw attention to your electronics? Thats just asking for trouble. You can tuck this inside a gym back or backpack to keep your music and paraphernalia in one spot and never have to detangle your headphone cord from the rest of your stuff again. This isnt the kind of thing that you will be able to wear comfortably when you are running for a long period of time because it does tend to slip out of place but for a half hour walk on the treadmill or outside its perfect. Please remember, never wear your headphones while driving, in many places it isnt just a stiff fine but it could mean points on your license and an increase on your insurance rate.
As always, thanks for the read!
