| earonoff's Full Review: Kaanapali Beach Hotel |
We stayed at the Ka'anapali Beach Resort in April 2002. We had an ocean view room that was very nice. The furniture was quirky and cool instead of your standard plain, flat, fake wood. The staff was very kind and they sing to you when you leave. They call themselves "the most hawaiian resort" on Maui. This seems to be true because they all "hang loose" and very laid back. You never get the sense that this is an Americanized hotel trying to be Hawaiian.
The area between you and the beach is a wonderfully serene lawn with flowering trees and one large pool. Other nearby resorts looked to have mostly concrete everywhere and resort type pools with waterslides. These are places that want you stay at their hotel all day and spend your money with them. But this is Maui. You're going to explore.
The restaurants onsite are nothing special. There's plenty else within walking distance, though. This hotel is on the Western coast so you will always have a great view of the sunset. It's right near Black Rock and at sunset a local lights the torches and then dives off. Water sports equipment can be rented on the beach for $5. Ka'anapali Beach itself is probably one of the best beaches in Maui and you get to stay there for a fraction of what people a few hotels down are paying.
