| slim7117's Full Review: James Patterson - Jack & Jill |
I read a great deal and usually read a lot of science fiction and fantasy, but recently have begun branching out and reading thrillers. Jack and Jill was the first James Patterson novel I have read, and overall it was a nice read. I am not going to go into to much detail in my review, because long detailed book reviews are one of my pet peeves. Anyway, here are the basics.
Jack and Jill follows two different killers, and the one detective trying to stop both of them, Alex Cross. The two killers are total opposites, one cold and calculating, and one angry and out of control. Cross really doesn't even want to be on one of the cases, but is forced to by the FBI. He must stop them both before things really get out of control, and some of the people that deserve death the least end up six feet under.
The plot of this book is something you would expect from the average thriller, but it has a few nice twists to it. The ending of the book, however, is a little bit disappointing, and left me feeling a little bit cheated. One of the nicest things about this book, though, are the characters. Both the protagonists and antagonists are well thought out, well developed, and seem real.
There were a few things that I disliked about Jack and Jill, but overall, this was a nice read, and at least worth the paperback price. I would especially recommend it to thriller lovers, but almost anybody would enjoy it.
