I bought this book because i was concerned and confused about this topic. These days our society runs on oil, and many people are wondering whats going to happen in the future. This book clearly describes the problems associated with fossil fuels, and how these problems cant be fixed. We have to find alternate energy sources to keep the world going. For a society base on oil it is going to be a wahe up call when there is none left, so before it runs out we need to find and put money into the research and development of alternate energy sources. The Book Hubbert's Peak: The Impending World Oil Shortage really does an excellent job of clarifying and making it easy to understand the topics of- The origin of oil, How they find it, different drilling methods, alternate energy sources, rate plots, and The biography of geophysicist M. King Hubbert. Did you know M. King Hubbert predicted in 1956 that U.S. oil production would reach its peak in the early 1970's? I didn't know that, but after reading this book i learned that and a whole lot more. Perhaps the most interesting chapter was the alternate energy sources. I am not going to spoil it so you will have to read it for yourself! This book is really well done by Author Kenneth S. Deffeyes, he makes the topics very clear and easy to comprehend. He uses diagrams to describe what he is talking about which really helps you understand the topic. This book is an easy ready and it is really fun and educational. In conclusion i really enjoyed it, if you care at all about the future of fossil fuels i really recommend this book! its a awesome read!
