northeastgal's Full Review: Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Shampoo
I finally received my FREE sample of "Herbal Essenses Body Envy" which I warned readers on my review of Herbal Essenses Spray Gel. The new Clairol collection was introduced in 2006.
This free sample was a nice travel size consisting of a bottle of shampoo and conditioner both being 1.7 oz. It came with a leaflet to promote their new line of shampoos and conditioners and $1 off my next purchase of any of these products.
I chose this because it states on their website:
"Body envy for volumizing lots of bounce for the ounce. Use us for a lift in all the right places. We'll give you lush volume and body that really moves.".
Normally I don't buy into marketing strategies. The model has this gorgeous hair, I could not resist trying this product for free. Yes, I want my shampoo to give my hair some volume. Yes, I want my hair to look just like the model's. But that's just not gonna happen no matter how much money I spend on hair products. They sure have some great models advertising their products whether you're a brunette, blonde or other type.
Our hair types are as unique as our face. It's all passed down from our parents. I like to think I can achieve the impossible. But trying new products is always fun.
The new Herbal Essences collection (8) has shampoo, conditioner, mousse, hair spray for each in the new line-up that you can mix and match:
None of Your Frizzness - Frizz is but a fuzzy memory.
Body Envy - Full and volumized
Break's Over - A love potion for bad hair break ups.
Hello Hydration - Let me soak it to you.
Totally Twisted - Get divine, defined curls.
Drama Clean - Clean up your act.
Dangerously Straight - Get smooth moves.
Color Me Happy - Shiny hair to dye for.
This bottle of shampoo is pink with the liquid being a light yellow and the cap is green. The bottles are all very colorful and makes you want to try each and every one.
This Body Envy has a fusion of white nectarine and pink coral flower. The mixture of the 2 give this shampoo a very pleasant scent. Unfortunately, after using the conditioner and other hair products to style my hair, the scent wears off.
The conditioner worked well but did not leave my hair too soft since it would take away from the volume the shampoo was made intended to leave.
The Final Answer
I liked the scent of this Body Envy. Although you cannot distinguish the exact scent since it contains a combination of 2 (flower & fruit). It lathered and rinsed very well.
Since I didn't buy this, I believe the price to be $4 for 12 oz.
After reading the ingredients on 2 shampoo bottles, I noticed they both contain basically the same typical cleaners with the exception of the added scents. Suave shampoo did contain Vitamin E which this Body Envy does not.
This "Body Envy" did not do much to add volume to my clean hair. I didn't notice the "lush body" they claim. Therefore, I may or may not buy it. I'm glad I had the chance to try it for free.
I purchase many different types of shampoos from the high end recommended by hair stylists like Biolage by Matrix to the cheap Suave shampoo which I seem to always keep on hand.
My rating:
***** for the scent
** for the volumizing
* for the price
