sharpie888's Full Review: Go Ped Sport Motor Scooter
The Go-ped is a Great toy that was invented in California back in the 1980's.
It's ironic that today, Go-Peds are illegal in California due to the clean air act that bans 2 cycle engines.
A Go-Ped is a skateboard like scooter with a small Weed-Eater engine attatched to it.
They are REALLY FUN to ride and yes they are fast. They will go about 20 mph.
You can buy upgrade parts that will allow a Go-Ped to go 40MPH or faster.
YES, they can be dangerous for kids to ride but no more so than a bicycle so if your kid has COMMON Sense and good balance they should have no problem with a Go-Ped.
There are a few downsides to owning a Go-Ped today:
1. They are illegal to ride on the street in about 80% of the USA. You might get away with it in your neighborhood but not for long because of issue #2....
2. They are LOUD. A Go-Ped has a Chain Saw motor on it and it SOUNDS AS LOUD as a chainsaw. Your neighbors are going to get VERY ANGRY with you if you ride it past their house more than twice a day. YES you can hear it inside a house, they are VERY VERY LOUD.
3. Go-peds Pollute the air with NOISE and Exhaust fumes. A Goped has a 2 cycle engine so they burn oil with the gas, creating a lot of smelly exhaust fumes.
Go-Peds are very politicly incorrect. If you ride one, people WILL COMPLAIN and you will get a LOT of attention.
I have owned several Go-Peds over the years and I've alwasy been annoyed by how people notice you when you ride it. All you want to do is enjoy your scooter, ride around and have a little fun however when people See and Hear you comming down the stree on a Go-Ped their reaction is as if you were waving an M16 Machine Gun and Fireing it wildly into the air... No kidding.
People FREAK OUT when they see a Go-Ped for the first time. They think your going to KILL them with it by running them over.
