Pros: Fast results! Lovely scent. Baby Logan loves it when I put it on his legs.
Cons: Expensive -- but rebates from Walgreens and www.gentlenaturals.com will help that.
The Bottom Line: Logan loves me rubbing Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream on his legs because it moisturizes his dry skin, takes the nasty itching away and helps his skin to heal.

As Mad-Eye Moody told Harry Potter, "You've got to be ever vigilant, Harry!" And so it goes with baby's eczema. Remembering to apply a super rich, soothing moisturizer cream at each diaper change will help to quiet the itching and help heal the dry skin. A rich petrolatum and beeswax form a protective layer to lock in moisture for your little one.

My grandson, Logan is two years old and has had baby eczema on his lower legs and wrists since birth. He also tends to have dry scalp. His skin can get thick and feel crusty. The itching bothers him and his fingernails are best kept trimmed. When he was just a small baby, I found Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream, a product by Baby Orajel, at Walgreen's Drug Store. What is Eczema?
Eczema, also known as dermatitis, is a common skin disorder. Itchiness, redness, and tiny blisters on the skin characterize it. The severity of eczema can vary widely. In severe cases, the skin may crack, weep and bleed and may become infected. Long standing eczema is often dry and causes thick scaling of the skin. Although it can look unpleasant, eczema is not contagious; you cannot contract eczema by touching someone who has it.
What causes eczema?
There are several different types of eczema, but atopic eczema is the commonest. It is a genetic condition; in 70 percent of cases there will be a family history of eczema, hayfever or asthma. Atopic eczema is characterized by dry, itchy skin. It usually begins in infancy and can often affect the whole body, including the head and face. In more than 50 percent of cases the eczema will persist into adult life. Flare-ups can occur in response to environmental allergens such as house dust mites, animal fur, pollens, microbes, and pollutants. Emotional stress and anxiety may also cause the eczema to worsen periodically.
Avoid known skin irritants and keep the skin well moisturized to prevent drying and splitting. When bathing, use warm, not hot, water and limit the use of soaps. Emollient creams provide a lipid (oil) film on the surface of the skin that prevents water loss. They are most effective when applied after bathing when the water content of the skin is greatest. Atopic dermatitis can become a vicious cycle. Something irritates your child’s skin, making it red and inflamed. It itches and he rubs it. The skin becomes more inflamed. The outer protective layer of the skin is lost. The affected area is even more sensitive to irritants, and dries out easily.
Bottom Line
Since the beeswax and petrolatum leaves a shiny - almost greasy film, you would not want to use this cream on your own hands; it will help your baby's eczema. I have also read that keeping the cream cold will alleviate the itching....but I store this cream next to the diaper changing table.
