| sailorjerrygal's Full Review: Fisher Price Learning Patterns Infant-To-Toddler R... |
The award winning Fisher price Learning Patterns Infant-to-Toddler Rocker is ingenious! I am a big fan of baby items that grow with your child, and Fisher Price has done a nice job of providing a durable, practical (and adorable) 3-stage bouncer/rocker seat. When I began making out my baby registry for our first child, I was overwhelmed with the choices and variations on everything. I deliberated over whether I wanted this model or a traditional bouncer. The ever-practical and thrifty side of my personality won out, and we opted for this convertible version of a bouncer rather than a traditional model.
Initially I was worried that it wouldn't be as good as a true bouncer, because it isn't as flexible or bouncy. Those worries were quickly assuaged during those long nights when my newborn didn't want to sleep! This little gem was a lifesaver! When fussy in the middle of the night, my newborn was content only when she was in her infant to toddler chair. I would set it up in the reclining position, turn on the soothing vibrations, lie on the couch with a hand on my baby and both of us would get some much needed rest.
As my newborn grew, the chair accommodated her changing developmental needs. She loved the toy bar, especially the monkey that plays a tune when its tail is pulled. The toys are detachable, which is also nice because you can switch out one of the included toys for your babys favorite, or take off a toy from the bar to take along on an outing. My daughter still has the musical monkey in her toy bin and pulls it out to play with regularly.
My baby is now a year old, and once again this rocker is one of her favorite items, this time as a rocking chair. She climbs into her chair every morning with her sip cup, a graham cracker and her doll to watch Sesame Street. She plays with the chair throughout the day, rocking in it, and putting her babies in the chair and rocking them. The other great point about this rocker is that it is VERY STURDY and surprisingly topple-resistant. My daughter loves to stand on this rocker, holding on to the backrest and rocking. The plastic guards on the back of each rail prevent the rocker from tipping too far back. The solid construction has stood up well to my active one year old who likes to push it around.
Overall, This was one of the best baby items we ever purchased- worth every cent. The listed retail price is $30, but on those long fussy nights when this rocker was the only thing that would calm my newborn, I would have gladly paid triple the price! (I noticed that they are on sale right now for $19.99 on Amazon- amazing!) I am confident that we will still get at least 2 more years of use from this chair; my 3-year-old niece loves it when she visits and it fits her perfectly. This will certainly be a gift idea I will use for baby showers that I attend in the future!
