The Bottom Line: A great product!. You will spend a lot of time with your high chair so be very picky! Here are all the great features plus the major drawbacks!
skfayer's Full Review: Fisher Price Healthy Care High Chair
It's not unusual; being a new mom it took me two tries to find the right high chair. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, and had to return the first one. With the Fisher Price Healthy Care highchair, however, I got it right. This chair has many excellent features:
Seven height adjustments – I can have it the exact height to push it under the table when done with it, but can also easily raise and lower the seat while my baby's strapped in.
Five-point Harness – I thought this would be a nuisance, but already at seven months my daughter Kendra would stick her arms through and be buckled in a flash. And she's unable to wiggle out!
Two-layered tray – A top tray (which is light, hard plastic) is easily removable and can go in the dishwasher. I usually just wipe it quickly in the sink when I'm cleaning up. Or if she mucks up the tray horrendously during supper, I can whip of the top cover and presto, another spotless tray underneath. Magic!
Handy bar on back – Behind the seat there's a wide bar for hanging washcloths and bibs. Very thoughtful of them.
Vinyl Seat – Easily wipes off clean. However, the silly cloth ruffle is looking rather grimy since I never can wipe it clean.
Three Settings on Tray – My last highchair I returned because there was a six inch gap between Kendra and the tray... clearly spelling a messy disaster. The three settings on this chair allow the tray to go right to her chest.
Five Compartments on Tray – This may not sound like a big deal, but it really helps Kendra as she learns to pick up her Cheerios.
Three Tilt Settings – I used the tilt when Kendra was still young, but other than that its just a frill.
No Highchair can be perfect, of course, and the Fisher Price is no exception. Here are a strikingly few drawbacks:
Baby Jar Holder - There is a baby jar holder on the side. Nice thought, but it falls off repeatedly. More than a nuisance if it indeed holding a jar of food at the time. Luckily, since also rather low and to the side, I never really used it anyway.
Tray Removal – The tray can be removed by two handles at the side (these work great) or with a one hand removal at the front. I prefer the one hand removal, since I'm usually carrying Kendra at the time. The front tray removal works better than most high chairs I tested, but still sticks if you don't remove it perfectly centered and horizontally. Please note that I'm being rather picky on this point – it hardly bothers me.
No Castors – I thought I didn't want castors, but I do miss them occasionally when I'd like to easily turn the highchair around or quickly move it aside.
As you can see, the list of wonderful things about this product clearly outweighs the negative. This was the best highchair I could find, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone, even my best buddy.
