| Jennd417's Full Review: Electronic Hand Held Yahtzee |
Electronic Hand Held Yahtzee is my latest addiction. I love this game. It is fun to play, easy to understand and easy to play. Let me introduce the game to you.
First, Electronic Hand Held Yahtzee is like regular yahtzee except of course it is electronic and you are not playing against any one. The object of the game is of course to get as high a score as you can. The following is a list of the scoring rules:
Upper row: Dice one through six- adds the number of dice, you try to get at least 63 as a sub total to receive a 35 point bonus.
Lower row: 1)3 of a kind- add total of three like dice
2)4 of a kind- add total of four like dice
3)Full house- worth 25 points, 3 dice of the same
and 2 dice of the same- example 3 fours and 2
threes
4)Small straight-worth 30 points- examples
1,2,3,4 or 2,3,4,5 etc. Only 4 dice make a
small straight.
5)Large straight-worth 40 points-
examples 1,2,3,4,5 or 2,3,4,5,6. It takes all
five dice to make a large straight.
6)Chance- adds total of all dice, use this when
you can not use any other spaces.
7)Yahtzee- all five dice the same, worth 50
points. After the first yahtzee, each additional
yahtzee is worth 100 points.
Second, let me decribe the Electronic Hand Held Yahtzee game. The game is very small, takes a triple (AAA) battery which is included. To change the battery you need a coin to insert to remove the casing. It is easy to change.
The game is very small, fits comfortable in my hands. It is a slate grey color with an easy to read screen. There are 5 yellow buttons which are hold buttons. Of course you use this when you are holding dice through out your three rolls. Next there is a serious of small rectangular red buttons which consist of the following:The sub-total button is used to display the sub-total of the upper row so you can figure out what you need to reach the 35 bonus points. The high score button displays the highest score, which in my case is 494. The sound button turns the sound on and off and you can use it while playing. The last little red button is to start a new game. You just hold and press it and a new game will start. Next there is a larger rectangular red button. This button is select. You use this to arrow across your upper and lower rows to make your selection then you can hit the tiny red, round button ( found next to select) which is enter to make the selection official. Finally there is another large red, rectangular button which is the roll and on button. Of course you use this to turn the game on and to roll dice.
The game does turn off on its own when it is not played for a couple of minutes. Don't worry, the game you were playing is saved, so next time you turn it on the game you were playing can be continued. That is always fun to be able to pick up where you have left off.
One tip I will give is that when you receive a second yahtzee scroll your select button and you will see that you can take other options and still receive the 100 point bonus. For example if you roll six 6's you can scroll your select button and also chose to take the 6 on top or other random selections on bottom and still receive your 100 bonus points in addition to the six 6's on top. I just recently learned this.
The Electronic Hand Held Yahtzee is very addicting. I can sit and play it for hours. The only con to this game is that I sit and play and yes, I seem to be neglecting my housework till the last minute. Oh well, for the $10 my husband paid for the game at K-Mart, I will put it down when I am ready to ha ha. On a more serious note, the Electronic Hand Held Yahtzee is fun and entertaining. My nine year old loves to play it when she can get it away from me. My recommendation is 9 years and older. Have fun !
