With the Holidays quickly approaching I'm sure that many parent's are like myself and wondering which toys would make a good gift for your own child, or perhaps, another child on your list. With the influx of toy commercials recently, it isn't any surprise that our children could list off SEVERAL toys that they would like! When searching for toys for my children I like to ask other parent's their opinions (or ... read their Epinions!) prior to making any purchases. I have found this to be very useful in my purchase decision process. I want to purchase a toy that my child really wants, but I also want to purchase them a toy that is age appropriate and one that they will enjoy for weeks (months and hopefully ... years!) to come! With that in mind ... I would like to suggest the Fisher Price ~ Family Vacation Camper for your next gift purchase.
~ A Christmas Past - Two Years Ago ~
I remember this day like it was yesterday ... I had just received my newest Family Fun magazine in the mail and inside they were rating the top ten toys for the Holiday Season (by age groups). We were living in South America at the time and I was not up-to-date with the hottest toy selections, newest toys on the market, etc ... I really was unsure as to what to get my daughter, age three at the time, for Christmas. But that all changed when I saw the Fisher Price ~ Family Vacation Camper. It was a perfect gift for my daughter! After figuring out if it could make it back to Brazil in my suitcase (we were back in the US during the Christmas holiday break) I got on the phone to my mom and asked her to please find this camper for my daughter.
As it turns out ... my mother had no problems finding this camper (Toys 'R Us). And ... after watching my daughter open this gift on Christmas morning and seeing the delight in her eyes ... I was so glad that I had made this purchase!
~ Tell me about this camper ~
The Fisher Price ~ Family Vacation Camper is approximately 10 1/2 inches in height and 16 inches in length. Made out of white plastic, we have found it to be quite durable with the exception of the door on the passenger side of the camper. It broke off not long after my daughter had received this as a gift, but this may have been due to the brutal attempts of opening and closing by a friend of my daughters. (Unfortunately I was out of the room when this happened!) We have since positioned the door back in its place with some tape.
The back end of the Fisher Price ~ Family Vacation Camper folds out showing all the comforts of home inside. You will find a kitchen, living area, sleeping bunk, fold down bed and even a fold out dock. In the kitchen you will find a sink, an oven with a moveable door for opening and closing, and a toaster, canister set and cutting board with food items (these items are not removable)on the counter. There is plenty of space in the front of the camper for the family of three to sit while driving around, or perhaps the daughter would like to take a nap on the bunk bed while traveling.
One of the other benefits of owning this Fisher Price ~ Family Vacation Camper is the accessories that go with it!
~ Dad ~ Dad stands at 6 inches tall and has brown hair, blue eyes and is wearing a white shirt, blue pants and white tennis shoes. His arms are moveable and his legs are bendable at the knee allowing him to either stand or sit.
~ Mom ~ Mom is just shy of 6 inches in height and she has lovely auburn hair with a green headband and yellow earrings along with blue eyes. (For some reason the fact that she had a headband and earrings really impressed my daughter!) She is wearing a blue shirt, yellow kerchief with green walking shorts and blue shoes. She also has moveable arms and bendable legs allowing her to either stand or sit.
~Daughter ~ Standing at 4 inches in height, this little girl has auburn hair and blue eyes like her mother and also sports a yellow headband. (Yes! Another hit with my daughter!) She is wearing a blue shirt with yellow overall shorts along with socks and green tennis shoes. Due to the size of her, her knees are not bendable but she has no problems with sitting inside the camper or boat.
~ Fishing Boat & Accessories ~ Almost 7 inches in length, the fishing boat is the perfect size to park alongside the dock on the back end of the camper. Also included is a green fishing rod and an orange life jacket. The perfect size for the daughter! :) Oh ... and I can't forget the fish. Both the fish and lifejacket are made out of felt. And yes ... this boat really does float in water!
~ Suitcase ~ One can't travel without their suitcase ... so you will also have a pink suitcase that opens and closes. (Does not allow room for items to be closed inside.)
~ Towel ~ Can't go fishing without a towel. My daughter enjoys using the pink/white striped towel as a blanket rather than a towel. I can't tell you the number of times I've walked in the room and seen the daughter laying in the bunkbed with her blanket on! :)
~ Ladder ~ How else would the daughter get up to her bunkbed?! With her pink ladder, she has no problems at all!
Table ~ Everyone has to have a table in their camper. This family has a blue table that can be used inside the camper or even on the dock. Depends upon where your child's imagination wants it to be!
All of the above items, with the exception of the life jacket and fish, are made out of durable plastic.
Clean up is easy with this toy as all the above mentioned accessories fit inside the camper, even when the back end of the camper is folded in the upright position. It can easily be stored in a closet, or even under a bed. My daughters is always placed alongside her Loving Family Dollhouse. Just like her Papa Bob's camper is! :)
~ Does she still play with it? ~
Yep! Almost two years later, it is still one of her favorite toys to play with. I have found the entire line of Fisher Price ~ Loving Family toys to be of great value. Between the dollhouse and the camper, my daughter and her imagination have a great time! And that makes her mommy VERY HAPPY!! :)
