Ladysmom's Full Review: Deni Freshlock II Vacuum Sealer 1531
A couple of years ago I ran across a product on QVC that I thought that I had to have and if I didn’t my life would never be the same. I would be a failure as a wife, mother and homemaker. It was the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531.
The way the talked about this product it was the be all to end all of home gadgets for your kitchen. It would make your life easier and you could save tons of money by buying in bulk. Heck the way they talked about the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 your neighbors would forgive you for flooding their garage, the dogs would love you and your kids would no longer fight and fuss and clean up their rooms.
Well I can’t say that all of this happened when I bought it but I do save money by buying in bulk. As there are just two of us and most of the time in the stores you have to buy items that are for families of 4 or more. There is nothing like having to cook a package of pork chops and eating that one meal for days.
Now with the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 I can divide the package into smaller packages and freeze them without the freezer burn that happens so many times from regular grocery store packaging.
With the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 most of the air is removed from the packaging and ice crystals do not form on the meat or vegetables. The trapped air is the worst thing for your meat or vegetables. It causes it to loose that fresh taste and you end up throwing it away.
When you purchase the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 it comes with a roll of bags and you can purchase more bags to replace the ones you have used up. Ok, I don’t mean bags, but you get a roll of heavy weight plastic and with the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 you make your own bags. If done properly there will be no leakage.
If you happen to get something on the sealer then wipe with a damp cloth.
It is easy to store because it is so flat and measures about 12" by 10". That is a guess as my husband took my tape measure.
The Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 is very easy to use. It has two lights on it, one red to let you know that it isn’t ready and one green to say it is.
Two pressure points, the first one is for making the bag and cutting them off the roll and the second is for removing the air and sealing the bag. When you place anything in the bag just make sure the edge is clean so you don’t suck food into the machine. Just make sure that you get the bottom of the bag under the little nozzle so that the air can be sucked from it.
If you notice that the bag isn’t shrinking then stop and reposition. Nothing could be easier than this machine. It also has an instruction booklet that comes with it but I have found after reading that it’s so easy and if you forget to read the booklet you can still use the machine.
There are two pressure points on the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531. The first one is for making your bags. You figure out what size bag you need and place it under the lid and press down to the first point and when the light turns green on the top the bag is made. You do this for three sides and then slip the food in and under the nozzle and press down all the way and you will start to hear a noise. That will be the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 sucking all the air out of the bag and you will notice the bag forming an outline of your food. When the light again turns green, your food is sealed and ready to go.
Where I live, in the spring all our dry foods seem to get those little tiny bugs in it and with using the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 I have not had that problem since. I take the cereal and divide it into equal amounts and make bags to fit and vacuum lock them and then place them into a large plastic container so that way they are all together and not falling all over the pantry.
I still keep my flour and cornmeal in the freezer as I have not been able to figure out how to use the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 on that yet. I have been afraid that the little nozzle that sucks the air out might suck some of the flour or meal into it and then it wouldn’t work properly any longer.
Another thing I really love about this is at times I do cook larger amounts and place the food in the plastic bags and seal then freeze so on the nights that I do have to work late all I have to do is come home, pop into the microwave or into a pot of boiling water and I have dinner.
I have also started making my own frozen dinners. I purchase the sturdy paper plates that are divided and place the food on them and make a bag that fits and seal and date. Into the freezer it goes and we have a good meal. This is especially good if you have only enough food leftover for one person and you know it won’t get eaten. Just wait until you have enough in the freezer for the whole family and you can have a night that you don’t have to cook. You also know what your family is eating and don’t have to try to identify it.
With the Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 you can reseal your potato chips and keep them fresh and not have to use a clothespin or any other device that you can find to keep them closed. Just don’t do like I did the first time and vacuum seal it. That will crush the chips and they are only good for using as a topping. Just seal.
Your block cheese stays looking like cheese for weeks longer and not some scientific experiment gone wrong.
Living in an area where there is a lot of flooding and hurricanes I have and still seal non food items so if there is a flood or water we can still use them such as matches, items for a first aid kit, even clean underwear and then I store on the top shelf of a closet so that the whole family knows where it is.
When traveling this is great for keeping your shoes off your clean clothing and for keeping small items together.
The Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer 1531 will change your life for the better and easier.
