I have used Cover Girl Professional Advanced Mascara since I was a freshman in high school, which is longer than I care to admit. Of course the product has changed somewhat over the years but it only gets better. From time to time I have tried new brands but I am never satisfied with them, either the price is too high or they just don't deliver on their promises. Okay, I will admit that I have been out of high school for twelve years now which means that I have been using this brand of mascara for sixteen years. In those sixteen years I haven't found a single brand of mascara that compares with Cover Girl Professional Advanced Mascara.

Cover Girl Professional Advanced Mascara can be found at most drug stores and discount stores such as Walmart, Kmart, Target, Walgreens and Rite-Aid. I have also noticed this product at Family Dollar and it may be available at other dollar stores as well. It costs between $4.00 and $4.99.
Packaging
This product comes in a blue tube that holds 9 ml or .3 fluid ounces. The top of the tube is also the applicator brush. The brush in the Cover Girl Professional Advanced Mascara is curved to help you with application and to give your lash curl. This tube comes attached to the normal cardboard product packaging associated with most Cover Girl cosmetics. This cardboard packaging clearly shows the color of the product you are purchasing as well as gives information about the product on the back.
Colors
Cover Girl Professional Advanced Mascara offers a limited choice of colors that include black, black brown, soft black, and blue black. However, I only use black mascara so this isn't a detractor for me. If you are interested in a larger variety of colors such as blue and purple this product will not offer you the kind of variety you are looking for. I personally have not ever tried any color other than black and therefore I can not comment on the other colors offered in this line but they all seem to be shades of black or brown, just the basics.
Application
Applying Cover Girl Professional Advanced Mascara is very easy. When you remove the applicator from the tube there will be mascara already on the brush, do not reinsert the brush or pump the brush while inside the tube as this may cause you to have too much mascara or make the mascara lumpy. If there is too much mascara on the brush gently wipe it on the opening of the tube. Apply to eye lashes as usual. You may need to put the applicator back into the tube in order to have enough mascara to apply to the second eye. The applicator brush is curved. I find this very helpful when applying my mascara but it may be difficult for some to reach the part of the eyelash that is close to the nose depending on the shape of their eyes.
Wear
There are many advantages to the wearing of Cover Girl Professional Advanced Mascara. The most obvious advantage is the beautiful lashes that you get. When I use this product I am left with long, lush lashes. Among the other advantages are the fact that it is long lasting, smudge proof, and hypoallergenic.
* Long Lasting * - I apply the mascara when I get up in the morning and I do not have to reapply it all day long. If I didn't wash it off at night I would probably not have to reapply it in the morning either. If I am going to go out in the evening I might apply a second coat but it isn't necessary.
* Smudge Proof * - This mascara stays in place. It won't wipe off if you rub your eyes or if you rub your face across someone's shirt. I have changed clothing with this mascara on before and it didn't rub off on my top. That makes a huge difference. Just because it is smudge proof doesn't mean it is water proof. I have worn it in the rain before and have even cried at a movie without it running but I haven't been in a swimming pool with it and can't say if it would run or not in that situation. Still, the fact that it is not waterproof is a bonus to me. Most of the time I find it extremely difficult to remove water proof mascara and this mascara is easy to remove with either makeup remover or soapy water.
* Hypoallergenic * - I have lots of allergies and it is important to me that my makeup products be hypoallergenic. I have the most trouble with my eye makeup. Some brands of mascara cause my eyes to water uncontrollably and then of course the mascara runs and I have a horrible mess. But I never have that problem with this mascara. I have also noticed in the past that there are brands of mascara that will make my eyes itch or feel dry and I have never noticed that with this product either.
* Ophthalmologist Tested * - the packaging claims that this product has been tested by ophthalmologist (doctors who specialize in the treatment of eyes) to determine that it was safe for use. I have no reason to question this claim and it certainly appears that it is safe for use as I have never had any problems with it.

Warnings

Cover Girl mascaras are quality tested for purity. To safeguard purity: 1. Handle and apply in a careful, sanitary manner; 2. Don't share mascara, add anything to mascara, rest the applicator on any surface, or use old applicator in a new case; 3. Cap tightly. If change in odor or appearance occurs, discontinue use.
Eye cosmetics in a scratched, infected or irritated eye and scratches from eye cosmetic applicators can lead to eye damage and in extreme cases even blindness. If your eye is scratched, infected or irritated, stop using all eye cosmetics and go to an eye doctor immediately.
