| maggsmomm's Full Review: Conair Instant Heat 1 1/4" Curling Iron Model Cd82... |
Generally I have very straight hair. However during the summer I get frizz if I don't get a perm. Which leaves me with locks that I have to tame one way or another.
I have tried flat irons galore. They don't seem to give me the results I want. I end up with kinks on certain sections of my hair. The straightener isn't uniform, leaving my hair looking like a mess.
My hair dresser recommended me just using a regular curling iron. I had to laugh, I haven't used a curling iron in years! I cant hold them for 20 minutes for each section of hair. So she got hers out and went through my hair, section by section and straightened my hair! Yeah!
I pulled out my Conair Instant Heat Curling Iron for those days I want straight, fizz free hair.
Whats so great about this curling iron?
It is easy, it heats up in 60 seconds or less. Im always pressed for time so this is a huge plus.
This is so cool-it has 20 different settings-around the neck of the handle is a dial and you can turn it from 1-20 depending on your hair type. The higher you go depends on how hard it is to curl your hair!
I don't really care about barrel size since im using it as a straightening device, but the barrel is 1 & 1/4 inches which delivers perfect sized curl for those of us with mid to short length hair.
And since it is chrome it is easy to clean and remove any hair product residue.
The handle is rubber like and is easy to grip because of the uniform ridges. The cord is never tangled or in your way because it has a swivel base, so it rotates keeping it from getting knotted or tangled.
This is an important feature because we all know how difficult it is to switch hands when curling your hair and keeping the cord from bunching, or getting wrapped the wrong way pulling your hair.
Like most irons it has a plastic tip on the end that stays cool so you can hold both the handle and the tip without burning your fingers. The tip stays cool no matter the setting.
It has a foot, that folds up or drops down so it has place to rest. The last thing you want is your iron burning anything it touches. This keeps it propped up. However, this little metal helper does get hot so be warned. I keep mine up and in a stand.
My favorite features would have to be the on/off switch which are soft. There is a red indicator light so you know its on, and it shuts itself off. Since I have had mine it has varied on when it will shut itself down. It can be every 10 minutes or every 10 hours. It just isn't reliable, but its better than no auto shut off at all I suppose.
When you curl (or straighten) you hair the section of hair fits nicely into the rod and doesn't slip out. The spring is very tight ensuring a good grip on sectioned hair giving you optimum results.
I always use the 20 setting because my hair is very difficult to curl or straighten. When I use it for straightening I use it like you would to curl your hair. Just clamp your hair in and slowly pull through. You get even results and super straight hair.
I cant recommend a better curling iron. I have three Conair curling irons and love them all. I don't use them like I once did, but they last forever, and I have never had one break or quit working.
If it does Conair gives you a two year warranty on all its hair styling products. You cant beat that with a flat iron!
