| BeeCharmer's Full Review: Clinique Instant Energy Body Wash 6.7 oz/200 ml |
During a previous gift-with-giveaway purchase, I received a sample of Clinique’s Instant Energy Body Wash. Being a happy, return Clinique customer, I looked forward to showering with my latest booty. And, as with all Clinique products, this bath product has been allergy tested and touts fragrance (additive) free products. Good news for this sensitive-skinned beauty product hound.
Spearmint, Anyone?
Strong! Clinique’s Instant Energy Body Wash is anything but a light scented bath wash. Although being a fragrance free product, this bath gel carries a natural, potent spearmint scent. Delightful, lush lather, yes. Yet, only for those inclined to such a fragrance; personally, I am more of a Juicy Fruit sort of gal. I long for the lush, lighter scent of citrus and cocoa buttery goodness found in Clinique’s line of Skin Cushion Body Wash and Deep Comfort Moisturizer.
The scent, while a bit overwhelming in the shower, does not carry over long after you have completed bathing. Eye-opening, this shower gel is a definite ‘pick-me-up’ scent that can invigorate and get one going at any time of the day while it is in use. Somewhat like showering with a Wrigley’s Spearmint gum chewing brethren, up close and personal. This one is wonderful in its complete make-up, even if it is not my personal number one choice.
Product Hype
Bubbles skin clean in a rush of pure liquid refreshment.
A lovely aquamarine-colored gel, this body wash is beautiful in and of itself. Rather thick, one might think it would be harder to dispense… But as with Clinique’s many other bath selections, Instant Energy Body Wash’s contemporary packaging ensures its carefree use, each and every time.
Silky smooth, this aquamarine confection comes simply packaged in a transparent, non-slip plastic bottle adorned with a convenient flip-top lid. After showering, merely close the lid and set it aside until your next shower, lid down. Not only does this ideal packaging allow bathers to keep track of their product use, but the lid-down feature assures users of quick, subsequent applications.
And as with all Clinique body washes, a little goes a long way, rinsing clean with little or no residue. Simply dispense a small amount upon your loofah, washcloth, or hand for bathing. The lather of Instant Energy is lush and generous, its abundant spearmint scent, energetic and robust.
Instant Energy Results
While the overall invigorating scent of Instant Energy is classic and vibrant, it has actually proven to be less moisturizing than a variety of other products I currently use from the Clinique line.
With regular applications of this body wash, I have actually found it to be somewhat drying, overall. My arms and legs, more often than not. And yet, while not as drying as a majority of similar products, flaky dry patches are not uncommon. Thus, facilitating the application of further beauty products, such as an all-over body lotion. Grrrr.
And though I can appreciate the strong scent of this body wash as an invigorating pick-me-up, especially after working outside in the yard; I would rather not experience the ensuing dryness. While not the most expensive department store brand, this body wash is more expensive than a majority of drugstore varieties. If I am expected to pay the price, regardless, I would rather place a sixteen-plus purchase toward something I truly enjoy.
Hence, this product just isn’t it for me. Being a Juicy Fruit scent-pleasured gal, I much prefer the moisturizing benefits found in Clinique’s Skin Cushion Body Wash, Deep Comfort Moisturizer and invigorating citrusy-spearmint scented Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliator bath products.
Recommendation
I recommend this product for those looking for a lush, minty bath product. And although the scent does not linger indefinitely, it is no doubt invigorating throughout bathing. Yet, for those with a tendency toward dry skin, allow me to throw caution to the wind…
I enjoy this product, although it has personal drawbacks for me personally, by way of moderate skin dryness with frequent use. While rich in lather and generous of scent, if you prefer something lighter of scent and a bit more moisturizing overall; Clinique offers such in the moisture-rich selections listed below.
Skin Cushion Body Wash
Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliator
Deep Comfort Body Moisture
Cool Lustre Body Moisture
