| AnniWitch's Full Review: Clear Away One-Step Wart Remover for Kids |
My youngest son has now, and has always had, a small wart on his outer pinky finger.
I purchased this product because I did not want to subject him to the trauma of having a Dr. sizzle it off during an office visit. It just is not worth putting him through that, since the wart causes no problems at all.
Still, I figured this might be an alternative way to get rid of the wart. CLEAR AWAY wart remover strips for kids come in 3 different cheezy designs. Nothing cool like a shark or bug or sun or something girls might like. Just some "design" with colors that most 3 year olds could easily produce with a crayon and paper. The pad part of the strip has a little rubber disk in the center that you must place over the wart. It is not very large, and therefore not very effective against large warts.
I placed one of these strips on my son's finger, and within 2 hours, it was gone because he had gotten it wet. So...I put another one on his finger and cautioned him to not take it off or get his little paw wet. Of course it was gone again in a few hours. We went through this routine for about 2 days, and each time my little darling concocted an elaborate excuse as to what demise the strip had fallen victim to.
After the first box was gone, I did notice that the wart had started to go down a bit. This gave me a little bit of hope, so I purchased another box. I had a little bit more success at keeping the strip on his finger due to a combination of bribes and threats, and by the end of the second box the wart was very white and kinda just "sitting" atop the skin of his finger. A few days later I looked at his finger and it was gone completely. He told me he had pulled it off! The wart eventually grew back again, however, as they tend to do.
My final conclusion regarding the effectiveness of this product is this: If you can keep it on your child's finger, it will probably work. If not, you are wasting your money and would be better off, if the wart is troublesome, to have a Dr. remove it. For a single small wart, why even bother?
