I have had the Bose Wave RadioCD player now for 6 days. I wanted to wait an ample amount of time before I attempted to write a review on the product. Given the meager amount of time that I have used the Wave RadioCD, I must say that this is the biggest and richest sound that I have heard from such a tiny system. Although the name Bose pretty much says it all, I was still a bit skeptical about what the sound quality would be like. I am a bass tone person and tend to adjust the equalizer accordingly. Knowing that you could not adjust the treble or bass left me wondering if I would get that rich sound that I hold so dear. Absolutely! I am very impressed with the rich bass that accompanies the other accurately set tones. Having said this, I will now go on to provide you with a little info about Bose and this product. I hope that you too will have the opportunity to try this magnificent little gem and see for yourself just how amazing it really is.
The first Bose consumer product was introduced in 1968. And that would be the 901 Direct/Reflecting speaker system and over the years has become the worlds most talked about speaker, no matter the size or price. Bose manufactures some of the most highly desired audio products in the world. Proof in the quality of Bose can be found in places that you would expect quality, such as you more pricey luxury cars and more expensive restaurants. A lot of cruise ships, cinemas, sports arenas and auditoriums also use Bose systems. Did you know that the NASA space shuttles also use Bose? I suppose it is like they say, wherever quality sound is important, Bose is there.
Bose, does deliver life-like performance and I can testify to that. In my 1993 Mustang GT, I installed a Bose system and feel like there are no others that can compete with it. And this system is no different. The bass sounds I love are rich. It seems that the instruments are each on its own speaker. That is the effect it gives. You can hear all vocals, not just those that stand out more and the drums are awesome. It feels like you are there live.
The Wave RadioCD is just about the size of a radio that you would keep on the kitchen counter or in your garage or work shop. 14 years of research went into this tiny system and it shows too. The integrated system design for high acoustic quality requires no complex adjustments and I found this to be a large plus. It includes a high performance stereo tuner with 6 AM and 6 FM station presets. The CD player includes skip, scan, repeat, random and programing features. I love the fact that it also has two independent alarms with battery back-up and I can tell you that it will wake you up. It also has inputs for additional sound source. You can hook up your TV, VCR, or tape player to it also.
This system also comes with the cutest remote. It is credit card size and comes with a mounting strip. I have small hands and it fits in my palm. Works really well and from a good distance too. You don't have to be pointing the infrared remote directly at the system for it to work. Unlike my VCR remote that seems to insist you be standing 1 foot from the player for it to work.
Included in my package when I received it was the player itself and manuals. They also sent a 9volt back-up battery and the lithium battery for the remote. A demonstration CD and mounting strip for the remote was also included. The battery for the back-up is strictly for that and does not make the player work. This is an electrical appliance only.
Now I am not going to tell you that this system is feather light. It does not weigh 50 pounds or anything like it, but for it size it is heavy. It weighs 9 pounds.(I weighed it for you just now)..Not too heavy, but as I said in comparison with it size, it does feel heavy. And the actual measurements of the system itself are: 4 1/8" H x 14 Wide x 8 1/4" Deep. See, it is very small.
Wave RadioCD does carry a limited 1 year warranty and all parts defective in material and workmanship is covered. The warranty is fully transferable providing the current owner furnishes the original proof of purchase from an authorized Bose dealer.
I purchased the Bose WaveRadioCD system for $499.00. And I believe that they also carry a payment plan too. You may get the Bose system in a "radio" only style, with of course no CD and its price is $299.00 I believe. I would imagine, after listening to the radio on mine, this would be a fine choice also. I know that $200.00 in additional cost for the CD unit is a bit much, but trust me for the quality here it really is not.
Well, obviously I am very proud of my Wave RadioCD player from (to me) the most trusted named in sound today, Bose. I hope that I have listed sufficient information for you here to enable you to make a more sound, informed decision. Go for it, it truly is a one of a kind experience.
