I cannot tell you the last time eyeliner stayed on all day for me. I have oily skin and lashes, and no matter what I tried, it never lasted more than four or five hours. Pencil, gel, liquid--it didn't matter. The closest I had come was Maybelline Lineworks Ultra Liner Waterproof, but a few years ago they must have reformulated it, because my eyes got red and burned after it started to break down. I was just resigned to having to wipe away the remainder of my makeup. I decided to do a little research, and Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner had received some good reviews; what did I have to lose if it didn't work? So I ordered that and some of her waterproof mascara in hopes I would finally be rid of raccoon eyes. When my package arrived within the week, I also found a powder blush. I was concerned that someone had messed up the order, until I found out that thank-you products are standard. The glass jar the eyeliner comes in is so tiny, you are wondering how soon you will have to re-order. Never fear: I've had mine for over a year and don't even have half of it gone, and I use it every day (but only on the lowers, if it makes a difference). I ordered the sepia, which looks medium to light brown on the website, but is actually a dark brown when applied.
I cannot believe the wear-factor of this stuff! I normally work a full day, travel an hour each way, never touch up and have picture perfect eyeliner when I get home. Yes, it does come off eventually, for me somewhere after the 12 hour mark. I notice it doesn't stand up well to tears; if you happen to cry with it on it will wash away, but I'm talking a good cry, not a couple of tears. I've had no problems with eye irritation, even if crying with it on.
I rated ease of application as good because it needs to be applied with a brush and you only need the tiniest bit to do the job. I've been using liquid for years, so it's second nature to me, but if you've been a pencil user, it may take a while to master. The product glides on smoothly, with no tugging, but if you make a mistake, fix it the second you goof! If you wait even thirty seconds, it dries and the only way to remove the oops is eye-makeup remover.
I have been really happy with this product, and can't really think of anything bad about it except that I don't have a Bobbi Brown counter near me, but at this rate, I won't need one for another year!
