Cons: Doesn't give results like it should; can't be used anywhere but the corners of eyes
The Bottom Line: This pencil is fairly easy to use but can only be used in the corners of the eyes. It's just not as great as BeneFit would like us to think.
I've liked most of the BeneFit products I've tried, and usually don't hesitate to try more and more of their products. I recently went on a small BeneFit shopping spree at the nearest Sephora brick and mortar store and ended up with mixed results from these new products of mine.
Product Details:
Eye Bright is a pale pink very slightly creamy pencil that is used over foundation in the corners of eyes to give a "more awake" look to tired eyes. The pale pink shade is supposed to perk up the eyes and make you look more bright-eyed.
The wooden pencil is a nice-looking pencil and is 4.5" in length including the black plastic cap. The product in the pencil is a pale pink color that has just a slight touch of shimmer. There's not enough shimmer here to say that it has light-reflecting particles or anything like that. You can see the shimmer only if you are looking very closely at the pencil.
This product comes in just one shade, which is the pale pink.
There is .06 oz. of product in each pencil.
Here is what BeneFit says about this product (taken from website): Our purse-sized pink pick-me-up stick. When the clock strikes 4p.m. and youre looking tired, apply eye bright to the inside and outside corners of the eyes for an instant eye lift. Wow! Keep this one handy!
I was really excited to try this product, because I like products that give my eyes a brighter look. I've experimented with putting a white-ish shade of eyeshadow in the inner and outer corners of my eyes to make me look a bit more lively in the morning, and have purchased products that are made specifically for that purpose, such as Origins Eye Brightening Color Stick. I was excited to try the BeneFit eye-brightening product, as BeneFit is a brand I'm beginning to trust a bit more. Unfortunately, this product doesn't do enough to justify its price.
The pencil itself is easy to use - simply take the cap off, apply the pencil to the corners of eyes (over foundation) and blend. The texture of the pencil is mainly powdery but it has a slight creaminess to it. It's definitely a thicker texture. It's not the easiest to blend because it's a thicker, drier texture, but just putting a few dabs in the corners of the eyes and blending doesn't take a lot of work other than just smudging it a bit so that it blends into your foundation.
Eye Bright doesn't work well in any other area of the face other than the corners of the eyes (inner, outer or both). It doesn't work well on the brow bone because it doesn't blend well and takes on a more white appearance than the pale pink color that the pencil actually is. It really doesn't work under the eyes because it cakes a bit, doesn't blend well and actually emphasizes under-eye circles. Ugh! I used it under my eyes once and that was the first AND last time! It was then impossible to cover with concealer because it is a thicker texture.
The wear of Eye Bright is very good - it lasts pretty much all day because it's a "clingy" formula. But I found that the brightness wore off after about 4 or 5 hours and needed to be freshened a bit by applying and blending a bit more to the corners of the eyes.
The pencil is easy to sharpen and never "gouges" when it's being sharpened.
Overall, this product is basically useless. You can achieve a brighter-eyed look by using any pale pink or white eyeshadow in the corners of the eyes. This pencil is not necessary and actually doesn't do anything special. I won't re-purchase it again and am considering returning it.
