The past several months, every where I look I see new anti-aging, skin firming lotions popping up all over the place. Finally, I gave in and picked up a bottle of Bath and Body Works Skin Firming Body Treatment for $14.00.
I bought the Coconut Lime Verbena because Im absolutely obsessed with tropical, fruity smell ever since they introduced this line. The best thing about BBW is that you can get the same products in a huge variety of scents. Other great selections include: Warm Vanilla Sugar, Sweet Pea, Moonlight Path, Cucumber, Cotton Blossom, and Mango Mandarin.
www.bathandbodyworks.com describes this product as an Advanced body treatment clinically proven to improve skins elasticity, firmness and resilience in just four weeks.
I cant think of a woman I know that could honestly say that there is no part of her body that she wouldnt like to firm up, and many of them have the same problem area as I do: thighs and butt. Thats the main area this product is recommended for, the other body part suggested are the upper arms. I dont really have a problem in that area, but I figured that it couldnt hurt to apply a little there anyway.
So I take this product home and start using it that night. It comes in a 8 oz bottle with a pump lid that you can twist around to lock when traveling so you dont get lotion all over the rest of your luggage. Thats a plus right away! I want to make this bottle last the whole four weeks, so I only apply the lotion to the aforementioned areas of my body. The lotion is white and creamy, and doesnt leave my skin feeling oily. As a matter of fact, its a great lotion. My skin feels soft and moisturized for several hours, as well as the added bonus of the great scent. So far, so good. Now, I hop into bed, and like many others at nighttime I start rubbing my eyes. I dont actually even rub the eyes themselves too much, mainly the skin around them. The reaction I got was not good-it burns like crazy the second you even come near any orifice! So, I got up, thoroughly washed the lotion off of my hands (not an easy task, it takes several soapy washed to come off completely), and wash out my eyes to stop the burning. Mental note
do not do that again!
Week 1: I use this lotion twice a day, morning and night, like recommended, even though it is a huge pain to go through the motions of lotioning up, washing hands thoroughly, and then putting in/taking out my contacts. No improvement noted after 7 days and 14 uses.
Week 2: Im down to using this product once one day, and then twice the next day. This lotion really makes my legs feel nice and smooth, but its really becoming a huge hassle as part of my daily routine. Plus, I have to make sure not to even touch the area I moisturized after washing my hands, because even that will irritate my eyes. My butt does look pretty nice after the 14th day, but Im going to attribute that to the impromptu 9 mile mountain hike my husband I went on two days before, and the extra squats and lunges Ive been doing at the gym.
Week 3 Im barely using this lotion once a day every two days or so now. Im still not seeing any real proof that this lotion is working.
Week 4 I give up!!! The burning sensation is just to much of a burden! Do you know how crazy it is to use lotion, wash your hands 3 times, and then use a different lotion on your hands because youve been drying them out extra lately? Not to mention that Im using a completely separate lotion on the rest of my body! Oh, my God, this product is such a pain! Ive decided that there is no way on earth that this lotion is even going to produce minimal results, and Im putting myself through pure torture just trying to use it daily.
Based on the above information, I cannot recommend Bath and Body Works Skin Firming Body Treatment to anyone! Youre best bet is just to stick with the gym.
