Pros: Light but pleasant scent

The Bottom Line: Doesn't exfoliate well, scent is too light for me, doesn't moisturize, no warmth I could notice, and it's expensive.

| amyk49's Full Review: Bath & Body Works Breathe Comfort Instant Warmth G... |
I was recently at my local Bath & Body Works store to pick up a full sized version of their Breathe at Night Intense Body Cream, which is simply fabulous, and of course I couldn't stop at just ONE item, so I also decided to try Breathe Comfort Instant Warmth Gentle Body Scrub with Soothing Vanilla Milk. As it turns out, I'm glad I bought the small size.
~ Product Description
From the packaging: "Feel the heat - With exfoliating sugar, rich shea butter, and nourishing vitamin E, this warming body scrub reacts with water to give soothing heat to your body as it gently exfoliates, leaving skin feeling smooth and soft." It continues..."Warm your soul - Let the soothing scent of vanilla milk transport you to a place of deep comfort and total well being whenever you need it most.
The directions for use say to massage a generous amount into clean, damp skin, rubbing gently in a circular motion. Product will warm upon contact. Rinse clean. This is gentle enough for daily use.
My tube is the smaller 1.7 fl. oz. size, that sits on its screw-off cap. I paid $6 for this small size. It's also available in an 8.4 fl. oz. size, which is about $18.
Ingredients: Peg-8, Zeolite, Kaolin, Glycerin, Sucrose, Glyereth-31, Fragrance, Shea Butter, Zinc Oxide, Vitamin E Acetate, Silica, Peg-220, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.
~ My Experience
I couldn't wait to try this, as I was looking forward to the "instant warmth" and the soothing vanilla milk experience. In the shower I used my daily body wash first, since the directions say to apply to clean skin. I noticed that Bath & Body Works Breathe Comfort Gentle Body Scrub is a very thick and a whitish color as it comes out of the tube. The vanilla-y scent is really quite light - I would have preferred a heavier scent - but it is pleasant and not overly perfumy.
The sugar scrubbies are large, and there isn't very many of them. Yes, this claims to be a "gentle" scrub, and gentle it is. As an exfoliator, it really doesn't do all that much. This did create a bit of lather, but not like a regular soap or body wash would. It seemed like I had to use a LOT of this to do my whole body. And even then I didn't feel as if I had gotten a good enough "scrub." I can see why this is gentle enough to use every day. And the "instant warmth"? Can't say that I could really notice any warmth to speak of. This scrub rinsed off just fine, didn't leave a mess in the tub, or anything like that.
The ingredients include shea butter, so I was hopeful this would be moisturizing, although that isn't one of its claims. Well, it isn't. At all. Some scrubs have an oil-like base, which generally I like because it leaves my skin moisturized. There is no oil in Breathe Comfort Body Scrub, and that might be a plus for you, but I found it to actually be drying to my skin. A body lotion was an absolute must after using this. I do have dry skin, however.
~ Final Thoughts
Bath & Body Works Breathe Comfort Instant Warmth Gentle Body Scrub was a big disappointment. I couldn't notice any warmth, it was drying to my skin, didn't exfoliate, and was expensive. Fortunately I bought the small size. If you like a very gentle daily scrub, and do not need it to moisturize, then you may want to give it a shot, but I cannot recommend it.
