| mom2daniel's Full Review: Babyvision Backpack Diaper Bag |
When my son was born, I had two diaper bags: the tiny one that would barely hold a diaper, let alone the essentials that baby needed, and a big, bulky one. Usually when I went out, I wound up using both of them. There had to be a better way. Thanks to Gerber and their points program, I found that better way--the Gerber Backpack Diaper Bag!
What's so great about this bag?
It's a backpack. Fully adjustable, you can carry it on your back or over your shoulder. It can even adjust to fit over a stroller. It has pockets on either side of it to hold bottles or cups, a pocket in the front that has bottle-holding straps, and can also hold little things like binkys. Of course, the inside is big, roomy, and seemingly bottomless. Mine also came with a matching pad for on-the-go diaper changes, and a keychain to attach your keys to.
The picture on Epinions shows a denim-colored one, but mine happens to be black with silver trim. It's very gender neutral, so my son's father doesn't feel silly carrying it around.
Any drawstrings? Err... drawbacks?
The only drawback this bag has is that it is a bit hard to close if you really pack it full. The drawstrings can close easily, but the flap on top may not stay closed to the velcro tab on the bag itself. Other than that, it's super easy to clean, easy to adjust, a breeze to carry, and stylish to boot!
What is the Gerber Points Program?
I'm not sure that they still have it, since this was almost two years ago, but I would save up UPCs from various Gerber products to send in for merchandise. I had previously sent away for a baby spoon and frame (both personalized with my son's name and birthdate), and finally saved up enough for the bag. It cost me only shipping and handling, which added up to just under $6.00. Well worth it! If you use Gerber products, you may want to check their web site at www.gerber.com to see if they still offer the points program.
Mom2Daniel's Recommendation
If you're looking to get rid of your bulky, heavy diaper bags that your husband/boyfriend refuses to carry around, then this backpack is for you! I would purchase another one in a heart beat if I needed to. But luckily, this thing is so durable, I will probably never need to buy another one!
Happy Toting!
