Pros: Nice breathing mesh, good side support, great sole
Cons: the toe area is deceptive when trying on...go 1/2 size larger
The Bottom Line: These had a lot going for them until my toes were shoved into a far-too-small toe area.

| LRGuis's Full Review: Asics Women's Running Shoe GEL-2070 |
Another pair of running shoes have made their home in my closet. Oh, sure, they make it to my feet as well
.
Added this pair of Asics Gel running shoes thanks to a sale at a local retailer. Was the sale worthwhile? Read on
.
INITIAL APPEARANCE
These ran true to my size, unlike other running shoes which have required me to move up ˝ a size for a good fit. At least this is the initial impression.
Sides and top are meshed nothing too different the difference here was the continuation of this mesh into the shoe. All the way. The only mesh-free area was at the sole.
Outside sole includes some rather typical traction with some gel in the center. Whether there is actual gel is something that remains to be seen what I can see is a pocket of air in an area that looks like a high instep.
Finally, weight was surprisingly light for the price range. Not feather light, but certainly light enough for me to be impressed.
WEAR
Having spent a month working out with my pair of Asics I have a number of observations:
Construction
.my month has included treadmill jogging, outdoor trail running, and some general walking about. The sole is as solid as day one with both heel and toe showing no signs of wear. Perhaps a month doesnt sound like much time to judge construction, but after countless trials of athletic shoes I know that one month of wear sometimes does show up on a shoe.
Fit
.what can I say, Im not overly pleased. While they were good during shoe store trials, my toes feel pushed to the edge of the shoe during exercise whether thats jogging or speed walking. (Realizing of course that this shoe is meant for running and not for speed walking.)
The side of my foot feels great properly snug and supported. These are sturdy enough to assist an athlete whose foot naturally goes over to one side or the other. My sole feels no pain, no discomfort.
All issues come courtesy of the toe of the shoes.
VERDICT
They were on sale, they look good, I dont have comfort issues in the usual areas. But the fact that my toes are feeling jammed into the toe of the shoe not a good thing. And not something I could have known in the shoe store.
I am indicating that I recommend the shoe - it's not a bad shoe - it just does not "try on well" if that makes any sense. Go in knowing that the toe area will feel smaller once in use.
My advice? Well, if youre looking for a reason to stop jogging use this shoe as your reason. The other option would be to go a ˝ size up in spite of how these shoes may feel in the store.
