| Rocket1's Full Review: Asics Gel Cumulus |
The Cumulus was a my first pair of ASICS, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I needed a shoe that would get me through a few months of training without breaking down or causing me some sort of injury. And, when it was all said and done the Cumulus met all these needs and lasted longer than expected.
I supinate a bit so any shoe that has too much support on the inside is not good for me as it forces my feet to roll out even more than they already do. The Cumulus was a nice fit for me because it is a more or less a straight forward running shoe. Another plus in my book is the fact that the cumulus comes equipped with plenty of cushioning. When I tried this shoe on in the store, it was this extra cushiony feel that closed the deal for me on the Cumulus, and put them on feet as I walked out the door.
After putting in close to five hundred miles on my pair, the midsole, tread, and cushioning were all still in pretty good shape, although, the feel of the concrete had by that point begun to penetrate a little deeper.
So, If you are looking for a running shoe without any extraneous bells or whistles and don't have any major mechanical problems, than I would definitely recommend the Cumulus as a mid-priced cushioned shoe good for more than a few miles
I have since bought another pair of ASICS(The DS Trainer), which I run in now, because I had such success with the Cumulus. When purchasing running shoes it is nice to know that a company like ASICS designs their shoes to meet the needs of runners, and that their image as a personal and dedicated shoe company for runners is more or less legitimate.
