| meleahk's Full Review: Arthritis Hot Pain Relief Cream |
Ever since I was 3 years old I have had arthritis. My parents use to tell me that it was just growing pains. And at times it was, I admit that. But as I got older the pains got worse. Now at age (30ish) I am 70% arthritic in my entire body. Apparently before my parents adopted me I was dropped really hard on my bottom which cause the cushions covering my cartilages on my hips to come off. The doctor told me after an X-ray it was a miracle I grew straight up. The pain that I suffer each day makes my life difficult to get through. I can't even work outside the home because of it. And there is no cure. So, I deal with it the best way I can. I am truly grateful to God that I do not have Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I have tried many creams to relieve me from the pain. And not all of them have worked. I do take other medications by mouth to help out and they do work sometimes. Hot bathes work as well, which I take often in the middle of the day. My husband will also massage my hips and legs for me, which helps a lot!
Well one day my husband and I were looking in our local Wal-Mart store to try and find another cream for me to try. The others were not working that well, and the particular time of year was really worse on me. (Hurricane season) He found this cream called Arthritis Hot Pain Relief Creme for arthritis pain relief. (Please note the spelling on their packaging of the work cream, from here out I will spell it as they advertise it; Crème.)
I looked at it and read the ingredients, which are: Methyl Salicylate (15%) Menthol (10%) and anyone with arthritis knows that these two ingredients are the active ones that can really help the pain. The other ingredients are: Carbomer, Cetyl Esters, Diisopropyl Adipate, Emulsifying Was, Oleth-3-Phosphate, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Water (216-94). (I list all the ingredients in case someone may be allergic to something listed on the container.) I thought okay I would give it a try. I am glad I did!
It comes in a 3 oz tube. The tube itself is red with yellow and white writing. (I do believe that there is a larger size, but I cannot honestly say. This is the size I always buy, so I have not really paid attention to a larger size. Perhaps I should.)
The directions are easy: apply generously to affected area. Massage into painful area until thoroughly absorbed into the skin. Repeat as necessary but no more than 4 times a day.
When you first put the creme on you can smell the menthol, which actually helps to clear the nose should you have a cold. (I thought to myself, cool two medicines for the price of one!) But never put the crème around the nose area. The smell of the crème should be enough.
Within moments I felt a burning sensation. I found the burning sensation to feel really good. It was cool and hot at the same time. I soon found relief that I had been seeking for my arthritis pain. Remarkably the pain started to go away. I thought at first when the burning sensation went away the pain would come back. But it didn't. I have been able to sleep for hours after using this creme. For me the creme generally last over 4 hours.
The creme itself is not greasy or sticky. It is white and goes on easily. My husband generally massages the creme in for me. It washes off easily from the hands and does not have a lingering odor. During the day when my husband is not with me I will use the creme myself and have found no problems with it.
There is a warning label on the tube as well, which states the usual. Use only as directed, do not use around children, for external use only, avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If prone to allergic reactions consult your doctor before using. Do not apply to open wounds. There are other warnings and you should always read them on any package.
And as usual if the pain persists or comes back in a couple days, stop usage and consult your doctor for further treatment. I have done this and my doctor advised me that it was okay to continue use.
There is also an address to the company Chattem Inc. should you have comments or questions.
Keep this and all medications away from children. And in case of an accidental ingestion seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately.
And always throw the empty container in the trash. NEVER try to use the container for other purposes.
You also have to keep in mind that our body chemicals are different. Meaning that what might work for me may not work for you or what might not be greasy feeling to me may be greasy feeling to you. But at the same time, if the product may work, try it.
Like I said above I have tried many different creams over the years for my arthritis pain. And I can honestly say I like this one the best.
