Pros: Moisturises, goes on smooth, fairly long lasting, good colours, SPF15, inexpensive
Cons: shades looked different than expected
The Bottom Line: A soft, moisturising lipstick. Nice shades and reasonably long wearing, I could feel my lips benefit from the moisturising properties. A safe buy.

| baby_pie's Full Review: Almay Lip Vitality Smoothing Lipcolor with Kinetin... |
The Almay people really saw me coming when they decided to have a sale. Not only did I purchase a mascara I didn't need, but I also walked away with two lipsticks. Luckily for me these weren't a complete waste of money.
Almay Lip Vitality Smoothing Lipcolor with Kinetin & SPF15 is available wherever Almay products are sold. They are packaged in a shiny, light grey lipstick tube with the colour showing on a clear part on the bottom. They contain .15Oz/4.2g of product.
There are 20 delicious shades, most of which I found to be very nice. In fact at one point I had about five that I was deciding on! The shades don't have names, rather numbers. The shade selection can be found at http://www.almay.com/Prodlevel.asp?catid=7&prodid=21528
However the shades on the website are NOT accurate so you might want to test them out in the store first. I purchased #24 & #40. #24 looks like a light brownish-pink on the website but is actually a deep purplish-brown. #40 appears like a scary shade of candy pink on the site but again, it's a light frosty pink.
I alway have a heck of a time choosing lipstick. Sometimes I'll purchase it after only trying it on my hand (a big no no unless you're SURE of the shade). But this time I whipped out a tissue from my bag and wiped down the tester. Both shades looked wonderful under the fluorescent lighting and (now that I think about it) poorly lit mirror. But the next day these shades looked different. #24 was a lot darker in the natural light, and #40 was more frosty pink than anything else. These aren't bad things. Both shades are still wearable however I probably wouldn't have purchased #40 as I already have way too many frosty looking lipsticks and it's just a tad too pink! The moral of my mini-rant is..check the colours thoroughly before buying!
Almay markets Lip Vitality as an "...anti-aging treatment for your lips", but judging from the shades available Lip Vitality would also suit younger women.
Almay says:
"...clinically proven to smooth fine lip lines, which prevents feathering and bleeding, and to increase moisture retention during and after wear".
At the time I purchased these I happened to have fairly dry, almost chapped lips, so I was really able to test these babies out! I can say with great enthusiasm that upon first applying Lip Vitality my lips almost sighed with relief. This stuff is very moist, soft, and hydrating. It didn't bleed over my lipliner or feather. And true to it's claims, my lips felt all the better for using it long after it had worn off.
"...The creamy, moisturizing formula wears evenly for hours, with full coverage and a soft, luxurious, satin finish."
Yes, it's creamy. Yes, it's moisturising. And yes, it wore for about 3 hours before wearing off while I had coffee. The coverage is full, but not matte or heavy. It applies shiny with a soft, satin finish.
Almay Lip Vitality contains Kinetin which is their key anti-aging ingredient. Unlike AHA and Retinoids, Almay claims Kinetin, a plant based extract, fights the signs of aging without causing irritation. More info on Kinetin can be found here for those who are interested: http://www.almay.com/howworks.asp
I wasn't able to find a list of complete ingredients as the tubes are sold without packaging. However all Alamy products are Fragrance free, Clinically tested, Allergy tested and Irritant-free. Lip Vitality's main igredients are:
* "White Birch Bark Extract which helps condition and smooth fine lines."
* "Vitamins A, C, & E which are natural antioxidants that prevent damage from 'free radicals' which are caused by UVA/UVB rays and by environmental pollutants."
* "Aloe, a natural balm and conditioner that helps the skin hold moisture."
* "SPF 15 provides UVA/UVB protection to prevent sun damage."
These little tubes are packed full of treats for the lips. And it shows. Because I've decided #40 is just a little too pink I've taken to wearing it before bed as a lip balm. Beacause it's thicker than, say chapstick, it lasts me longer while I sleep and I feel the difference when I wake up. #24 is a gorgeous shade, darker than I'd normally wear but a really nice, deep shade.
I'd recommend Almay Lip Vitality to anyone who wants a budget-priced, good quality lipstick. It definitely improved my lips and has quite a bit of staying power for it's price range. Another great Almay product!
