It is really not fair to characterize this product as a bed. The instructions explicitly tell you to evenly distribute your weight on it. This means no sitting at the end of the bed, standing on it or (heaven forbid) jumping on it. I'm using mine as a full-time bed, in spite of the limitations. For laying down flat on your back, I think it's comfortable. Unlike mattresses that lose their firmness over time, this product seems to do better than a worn mattress that has sunken in the middle. Unfortunately, this product is very delicate. After only a week of use, mine began to leak. It happened in the middle night while I was asleep, which then required my repumping it every hour or two. The pump is very loud -- as loud as a vacuum cleaner -- so I'm sure my neighbors downstairs were annoyed. The next morning, I spent quite a bit of time locating the source of the leak, which turned out to be a ruptured seam at the corner of one of the stabilizer bars. I used the supplied patch kit to repair it, and so far after two months I've not had any additional leaks. So long as you use this strictly for sleeping for up to two adults (and no, eh, "recreational" use either!), this product will do. I like the product because you can store it when not in use, perfect for in-laws. It is very heavy, and the supplied duffle bag is painful to sling over your shoulder, with all the weight.
BTW, I'm not sure about the price. However, Bed Bath & Beyond offers substantial discounts with a coupon off the retail price. I think I scored with a 40% off coupon.
