My son absolutely loves to draw and paint, so we knew the time had come to find him an easel. I always like to find something that will last for as long as possible, and off to the stores to compare brands we went.
I knew the features I wanted - double sided, deep trays to hold supplies, easy to clean and sturdiness. We found it all and more in the Crayola Adjustable Art Easel.
This easel is two-sided - one side is a wipe off board and the other side is a chalkboard. Both sides have a plastic clip to hold paper. The trays take up the whole length of the easel and include a tray for chalk and two deeper sockets for crayons or markers. The wipe off board side has a pallet for paints that hold five colors, plus a deep pocket for holding the paint jars, a cup for water and a paintbrush holder. The paint pallet and water cup easily are removed for cleaning.
There is a place on the very top of the easel to hold a roll of paper. The paper can be rolled down either side for your artist at work.
This easel is adjustable by just snapping out two tabs on the front and sliding the board and trays upward or downward. Easy and quick to change height.
It's made of a durable and sturdy plastic, so clean-up is quick and painless. It will also last a long time.
Out of the box it took my husband about 10 minutes to put together. You do need a screwdriver for assembly as it has eight screws to install. It is easier with a helper too for holding it together while the screws are going in.
The best part of this easel is all of the art supplies it came with. Three colors of paint (easily mixed to create more colors), two markers, a box of crayons, a box of colored chalk, a tray of watercolor paints, 25 foot roll of paper, paint brushes, and eraser and even a plastic drop for the floor! Although the price of this easel is a little higher than other brands, you more than make up for it with the supplies they give you!
Just remember as with any time your child is using paints and chalk - chalk dust and paint splatters do get around. I had this in my son's bedroom and ended up moving it elsewhere.
Do I recommend it? I certainly do! And now the artwork on my refrigerator is tremendous!
