| kansasjman's Full Review: AT&T 9515 900 MHz 1-Line Cordless Phone |
This has been a great cordless phone. I've had it for about a month. While it's been discontinued, many people on online auction sites still list them for sale at about $15 - $20 total, including shippping. When you do buy this from whoever is selling it, if it's new, make sure you ask for an invoice, so that you can receive your one year warranty. The only problem I've had with it is that the charging light has a loose connection. I could send it to AT&T to have it fixed, but the shipping is too expensive.
Anyway, this phone has an intercom, and 2-way paging. Some of the older intercoms could only be started or ended by the base or handset. This phone can either page the base, or the handset, but the user can decide if he or she wants to accept the intercom call. With the older ones, the person with the handset could torture the poor person at the base, because the base couldn't turn off the intercom. This stops that problem effectively. However, there's no speakerphone, which is puzzling. All the equipment is there. Why not a speakerphone?
This phone has 173 channels (the average phone has 10 - 60), and a Digital Spread Spectrum system. While the box says "Clear sound for 4,000 feet", which is about 3/4 of a mile, it got choppy after about a block. Now, a block is more than enough for most people, but the message here is, don't throw away your cell phone.
The giant belt clip is very nice to have, as it keeps the phone very secure wherever you clip it. However, there are disadvantages. For example, while the phone doesn't have static, it sometimes has an annoying buzzing noise, which is a result of the DSS system. Occasionally this can get rather loud, but this dosen't happen often at all. However, I think you will find this AT&T 9515 cordless phone to be a great one. Enjoy!
