Pros: Prints on CDs like a champ and produces High-End Photographic Prints. Cons: Cost of the Cartridges and CD Printing Alignment.
Epson Stylus Photo 900 Inkjet Printer In the spirit of full disclosure, the first thing I want to make perfectly clear. I HATE ink jet printers! I hate them with a passion. I am a laser and color laser man and will always be. The cost and ...

Epson Stylus Photo 900
by steve45 ,Dec 06 '03
Pros: Prints well on sheet paper and CD's. Cons: Constant paper jams when printing on envelopes.
Does a good job printing on sheet paper. Does a good job on CD's, but they can smear. This printer does NOT use the water-resistant Durabrite ink. I recommend spraying a light coat of clear Krylon paint on the label side of the CD after the ink dries. It takes practice to master CD printing. You have to calibrate size & color intensity of the printing surface for different brands of CD's. Practice on blank CD's because you'll ruin a dozen or more before you get it figured out.
This thing does a TERRIBLE job on ENVELOPES. Constant jams and misalignment.
Epson inks for this printer are expensive. I refill with ink from MIS Associates (www.inksupply.com). They offer continuous feed ink (from bottles) for this printer and that is pretty economical. The standard MIS inks are not water-resistant, either.
I use no-name CD's that I buy on Ebay. They print better and record faster than the Memorex CD's that Epson sells. It's very hard to find printable CD's in stores.

Ok printer.I have seen better performance with other printers

Pros: The printer prints a little faster than epson previous models. Cons: The cdr surface ink smears .High Quality CDR lables do a better job.
Ok printer,I guess. But I have seen better performance with other epson or HP printers .Even though, in spite of the fact that it can print directly to CDR's.I would not recommend this as a high quality printer. The printer runs well with new ink cartridges, but if not used for a period the of time, the printheads becomes a bit clogged. It can print directly on (printable cdrs) but once the surface of the cdrs becomes just a little wet.The ink starts to smudge.Photo quality cdr lables are far superior in quality. At least with cdr lables the ink does not smear with a little moister. If your are into refilling the ink yourself. You can't with these epson stylus 900 models because the ink cartridges have an electronic chip that prohibits this. Also the replaceable ink cartridged are pretty expensive.I definitly used better printers
