Last month I needed to find a good photo printer for my daughter and son to use for their school work instead of having to bug their mom. We have a HP Photosmart 7350 and I considered getting one of the newer HP Photosmart printers, but I was at the ...

Pros: excellent results, borderless printing, direct from camera printing
Cons: a little big, a little noisy
About a month ago my husband decided that he had had enough. He had heard more than enough complaining about my computer, had seen enough looks of complete incredulity on my face when my system would crash or my documents would disappear, had seen too ...

Phabulous Photos and More!

by homefndr , Dec 25 '03
Pros: Beautiful prints, speed, ease of operation, great software, looks, price, economical ink system.
Cons: Small overscan on borderless prints, somewhat larger than many other printers. No USB cord included.
My home office now has four printers...with the Canon i860 being the latest addition to the collection. Printing photographs hasn't been a high priority until I recently became a grandfather. That changes things! I tried to print a few digital photos on ...

Excellent Printer!!! I just bought a Cannon i860 photo printer after reading many reviews on the i850. I had decided to buy an i850 until I learned that Cannon was coming out with the i860, so I waited. It was worth the wait. The printer is excellent ...

Canon I860 better than Epson c84, and Hp

by robfactory , Dec 12 '03
Pros: 5 different ink trays. Quality, costs, and price and great printing.
Cons: Tech support. They could include a lil bit of extra features.
Well I was in the market for a new printer after my Lexmark Z55 had taken a dive. Mind you, Lexmark printer are the disposable type. The ink is worth the same if not as much as the printer. Not to mention that their ink consumption is horrible. So, I ...

Canon i860 improves speed, quality over previous Canon printer

by dadadmin , Jan 19 '04
Pros: extra black ink tank for photos, low cost color ink tanks and larger black tank
Cons: none to date
Our Canon i550 began to have some problems with having to clean the ink tanks after the printer had sat overnight, so we went shopping. I liked the quality of the Canon printers, so I wasn't adverse to looking at another one. A salesman talked to us ...

NEVER going back to an HP
by tidblgr00 ,Jul 16 '04
Pros: prints to end of 8.5x11 page; wonderful crisp text, vibrant colored photos
Cons: none so far
I am a freelance graphic designer, so it is imperative that my proofs look the best. I was working with an HP--until it started to have issues, so I bought the Cannon i860. I was blown away. It produces fast, wonderful images and text...the text is what surprised me. I usually only see it that clear from a laser printer. It also has a great option menu, including...printing to the edge of a 8.5x11 sheet of paper!!! It is so nice to print things that do not have the white border around them. One reason the photos are so nice is that there are 5 inks (two blacks). And don't worry about ink replacement cost...each ink is it's own cartridge. So no more buying a new $45 color ink cartridge when you just need to replace one color. Even if you had to buy a replacement for every color, it is still cheaper to replace. Overall, I am thrilled with my new printer, and highly recommend it.

Gave it to a 5-year old
by rjocojr ,Dec 06 '04
Pros: Practicing not to defenstrate a computer peripheral, and a lesson never to buy Canon again.
Cons: Giving a month-old POS printer to a 5 year old - priceless.
Worst piece of computing machinery I ever had to deal with. Wouldn't install properly ("autodetect" is autodead), took itself offline inexplicably, often needed to open the case and wait for the print head to center for it to trigger printing. Paper jammed frequently. Installed on a Dell C400 laptop with XP Pro and SP2 - note the Canon drivers are not Windows certified. Would not work reliably on USB 1.0 or parallel conx (maybe it's just super on USB 2.0). Finally got fed up and in lieu of throwing it away, I gave it to my 5-year-old niece. We still haven't gotten it to work on her (fully updated) Windows 2000 machine; next stop is the trash can. Replaced it with a cheaper Epson C86 that worked out of the box like the proverbial charm.

So far so good......
by nfd8877 ,Aug 26 '04
Pros: Quick, Fast, Good rating by Sept 2004 Consumer Reports. Great price with the OfficeMax rebates.
Cons: Reliability to soon to tell. No problems yet. Takes up lots of space.
First of all I'd like to thank "sonnetceles July 04" for putting me on to the OfficeMax rebates. The printer was $119 and I also sent in for the $30 rebate (ended I believe) and $20 gift card. GREAT!! I couldn't believe my first print job. The i860 printed out with such speed. Quite a difference from my turtle printing Lexmark Z32.

Consumer Report tested printers in the latest issue. Of the printers tested, the Canon i860 was on top...#1. That's why I bought it.

Best Photo Printer I've Owned
by fdelapena ,Aug 08 '04
Pros: Print quality, color accuracy, silent printing, and fast printing
Cons: None
This is one of the best photo printers I have owned. The photos comes out photo-realistic, color accurate, quiet, and fast. The photos it shells out look close to a 35mm print, even when using a standard photo paper. Photos are color accurate if compared to an original scanned photo versus the printed photo of the same image. The second best part about this printer is it is quiet, even if quiet mode is enabled. The sound it makes is almost not noticeable, but what amazed me the most about this printer was the fast printing capability. It took less than thirty seconds to print 2 4x6 on an 8.5x11 paper.

Excellent Photo Quality Printer
by marabele ,Nov 01 '03
Pros: price, quality, paper feed, separate ink refills and easy to use
Cons: none
I was questioning the quality of the prints until I compared a 4x6 done on the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy and a developed print from Wal Mart ... the I860 print looked much better. I thought that I would need the six colors in the I950, but the 4 work great, just as the salesman had told me. Everyone that I have shown the pictures to are amazed. The print speed is excellent and the printer software is easy to use. I also like the 4x6 paper feed that comes with the printer. There is no need to worry about a misfeed

the best printer i have ever own
by jiayaw ,Mar 07 '04
Pros: speed=fast quality=the best you could get
Cons: the size was a little big,
This printer is fast, quiet(except when it grabs paper)and that it prints excellent photos. The only thing that i don't like about it is the size, its a little bulky.
I have enlarged a 4x6 photo of my dog onto to a letter sized Kodak premium photo paper, and the enlargement came out perfect, like the ones we get from professional labs.
The printer comes with 5 sample sheet of Canon's own 4x6 photo paper.
The software that this printer include was excellent.
The speed of this printer was so fast and quiet that at first try i didn't know it was printing.
Some functions that i like the most is auto on and off and that will save electricity.
I highly recommend everyone to buy this printer and not the Epson C84 or the Canon i560 because the i860 has a 5 colour system so thee picture will turn out to be more realistic.
I have even tried printing images on plain paper and the photo quality still looks great.

Canon i860 "The one to get"
by rdevoe01 ,Feb 08 '04
Pros: Great photos,4X6 paper holder, low cost ink cartridges
Cons: none
I do a great deal of digital photography and have found this to be the most accurate reproducing printer I have scene yet. I have the Canon a80 digital camera and after combining this with the Canon i860 you have a perfect match. I am sure this will work well with any digital camera. Just remember the better the camera and the higher the megipixle count the better the quality from the printer.
It prints laser quality and is the quietest running printer I've ever seen or owned. I especially like the 2 black ink cartridges, the one for text and the other for graphics and photo I never knew the difference in the 2 inks until you see them side by side. Great photo printer I have recommended it to several other people who I work with.
Also saves you money with low cost ink cartridges.
(about half the price of HP)
