Pros: 3" display, Digital Camera, S-VHS-C, image stabilizer, 400x zoom, sub 1 Lux light sensitivity Cons: It's spirit is digital, but its tape is not :)
I just received my new camcorder this weekend and wanted to share with you my experience leading to my happy decision to buy the JVC GR-SXM930U. There is almost no difference between the GR-SXM930U and the GR-SXM730U so this review applies perfectly...

Pros: Built-in Digital Camera for Snapshots, 3 inch color display. Battery life is longer. Cons: None found so far.
Let me start out by saying this is an excellent camera for the price you pay. You would pay double the amount for a comparable camera. You can get this camera for around $350. You definitely get more than what you pay for. I was pleasantly surprised...

I was looking to buy a digital camera to take on an upcoming cruise that I am taking my daughters on. I was also thinking about a video camera. I checked the base exchange at my closest military base. Great selection and good prises too. I found this...

For the price this Super...

For the price this Super VHS-C recorder is a good choice. But if it's imaging for the Internet that you want, this is not the camera to buy. Although it has digital still photo capabilities the photo quality still leaves a little to be desired, as my $125.00 Kodak Digital camera leaves the JVC GR-SXM730 in its dust. The fact that this camcorder has no USB interface surprises me. It operates through a serial connection to your computer. The folks at JVC could have made life easier if they’d have added the USB connectivity feature, which would have made this a great entry-level unit. There are some pluses for this camera however. The picture and sound quality of the video recordings are of pretty good quality overall. It does well under low light conditions. And it has some features you might not expect to find in a camera in its price range.

This was my first camcorder...

This was my first camcorder since my VHS dinosaur camcorder died. My experience with this camera was so bad, I am actually considering repairing my old camcorder! I bought this camera to record my daughter's wedding and ended up having to borrow a friend's camera because this one, after only 13 months and 10 videotapes, BROKE. The take-up reel just fell off. On close examination, the base of the reel was made of plastic and just broke off. I was never able to use the still picture feature of this camera because the software was useless. I have a 2000 Pro OS and the CD software would never install and no drivers were available except in a zip file off the internet. Didn't work! Total waste of money.
