hmm, what hav i found scary?
Well...I know it kinda sounds stupid but the ring is the most scary film i hav ever seen (and i havnt even seen the japanese version yet) I found the story completely stupid, especially the second film, but those off pitch sounds they used and the black and white images really got to me...Creepy!!! I bought the shining last week but havn't had time to watch it yet so hopefully it be as good as people say.
Somebody mentioned House of 1000 corpses...This is my favourite film ever! Not scary at all but totally wierd and just amazing and of course the sequel The Devils Rejects was awesome. Defiantly watch it if you don't mind sadistic killin and stuff, fantastic!!!
Other than that i can't think of anything that has really stuck in my mind, but if anyone knows something that will scare me stupid then please please let me know. |

Effectively creepy flicks
As an adult, I no longer get "scared"..however, I can still get disturbed, creeped out and have a goosebump or two when watching a horror flick. Be they supernatural or not, here are some of my picks..
Frailty: Bill Paxton plays a dad who believes God is talking to him and ordering him to destroy demons hiding in human form..his sons are along for the nightmare.
Near Dark: Another Bill Paxton flick...half the cast of Alien is in this one. Very cool modern day retelling of the vampire myth!
Event Horizon: Soemone else mentioned this...though slightly flawed, this is a pretty damned decent scary flick for being set in outer space!
Dawn of the Dead: (Remake) Sue me, I aint a purest and to many I utter heresy when I say I do not like the cheesy original..this is much superior in every way shape and form.
Session 9: An abandoned mental asylum and a crew of renovator workmen become obsessed with the haunted past of this building and its goings on.
The Exorcist: Funny, but this is one I still wont watch late at night before going to bed.
House of 1000 Corpses: A veritable house of horrors fun ride with the demented Firefly family...Captain Spauldings fried chicken tastes GOOD!
The Devils Rejects: More demented fun and horrors with the crazed modern day Manson family known as The Fireflys!
Haute Tension: (Only in the original french and uncut directors version) This has divided many once they realized what was going on, but for me the revelation made this one a cut above the rest. Great violent psychological horror and gore abound!
The Eye: One of the very few Asian horrors I like. More creepy than scary, but I prefer this story over Grudge and Ringu. |

I am a veritable 'wuss'
I have to say that it's fascinating to me that some people can claim to never be scared or freaked out anymore.... is that really possible!
In any case I can't watch too many scary movies because i have very bad nightmares and refuse to sleep, but I will share some movies I think were very scary.
Well first of all Alien is more suspensful rather than downright horror-scary but when i watched it for the first time as an adult of hmmm 23 I didn't go to sleep that night. Another movie which freaked me out was Stephen King's 'It'... that demonic clown is just icky!
There is an excellent German movie made in the early 1990's which I cannot remember the name of about a group of scientists running an psychological experiment with normal people grouped into 'prisoners' and 'wardens', it's very, very disturbing and based on real life experiments. Sometimes i think it's movies which have some reality or truth to them that really scare you, in particular ghost/exorcism tales. |

Awwww Scarymovie....
Unfortunately, you have to be at least 13 to be a member of Epinions. See, this is a website for consumers to write reviews of various products, such as movies. We have this private message board section for all the reviewers to come chit chat, blow off steam a bit, and get to know each other in between writing reviews.
Feel free to stick around the message board here though.. I won't tell ;)

Scary movies.
Hmmmm, I have recently been a horror movie addict, and i have seen many scary movies, some that are indie films, but are still amazing, so my favorite film's are Hell raiser Inferno, good story line, creepy bits, creepy charicters. Also House of 1000 corpses is awesome, dosent realy have a plot, but for those who like horror watch that. Evil dead, very good and creepy, and last but not least the descent, very scary, creepy story line, and some major jumps, put me off caving for a while.
Oh yeah and the texas chainsaw massacare was ok too. |
