I Hate to Ask

I wrote in two different areas on the same day.

Area 1 = Writer's Corner
Area 2 = Book

It's been about a week - I was looking at the hits - and my writer's corner has outside hits - my book - which is like widely popular (as in - selling like hotcakes on amazon) - has 0 outside hits.

SO, I hate to ask. But I will.

What's the scoop?

P.S. I did check to see if it was searchable through google, and it is.

Another ongoing problem. Some discussion here:
http://www.epinions.com/msg/show_~threads/cat_id_~121/id_~19577/forum_id_~441#177350

If you read through the thread, it seems to be pretty widespread problem. I know I have a couple recent reviews that I'd have bet money would have gotten shopper visits but haven't.

Some member hits sometimes aren't being totaled either. Other than recognizing the problem, I've not seen any feedback from Epinions on when or if the missing visit counts will show up. Submit a bug report, I guess.

Reviews with links that start with ".....epinions.com/reviews/", seem to be the ones affected.

RE: I Hate to Ask

I've just done a quick check of mine and you're right, all the ones with no outside hits star with epinions.com/review/

Presumably this and another couple of tricks with longer URLs recently are designed to improve search engine ranking. Hope it works. Maybe the software use to calculate hits doesn't expect any reviews to be in a folder on the server and that's why they're not showing up?

In fact on those reviews, it seems that meber hits have also stopped being counted.

Funny, I was just about to say that. On one of my previously lucrative, now invisible reviews, not even member hits are being tallied. What's up with that? If this is the case, we can't even claim to be a "mutual admiration society".

Thank you

for restoring some of my sanity.

Now here's another question. Can I be a little "proactive" in my posting?

Meaning - is there anyway - ahead of time - I can tell if a review I want to post has that dreaded /review/ in it - so maybe I can avoid posting there?

Yeah, /review/ would be in the product link also. I'm not sure if every new listing with /review/ like this has a broken counter. Epinions would have to tell us if the bug affects every product listing like this.

search engine

I pulled up the site from school today. I looked up a title that I had reviewed recently and epinions said that there were no reviews for that title.

Isn't that kind of odd?

As odd as noticing that in a recent review of mine, where it says how many of us have written about the item in question, it says 17, but only five reviews are displayed.
