Being Pregnant can be Magical

Nov 18 '00

Becoming pregnant can be one of the best times in your life. It's a time that lets you experience what it's like to have another life inside of you. Crazy and fun things can happen to your body and you can feel as if your losing control. However with all of that in mind the joy of knowing what your going to get at the end will get you through anything.

Body Changes:
I had 3 children and 3 totally different pregnancies. I carried High and Low. I experienced hair loss, indigestion, sickness, water retention, feet growth, hair growth, weight loss, and lots of stretch marks just to name a few things. With one of my pregnancies I developed a large brown mark that extended from my belly button down towards my private area. With my other two pregnancies I did not get that. Once I had my hair become thick and long and with another pregnancy my hair turned stringy and seemed to shed at an alarming rate. Your hips may spread; your chest will grow and become sensitive. You may develop Acne, or your skin may get better. Weight gain is a must but you can eat right and keep that in check if you wish. I enjoyed being pregnant as it caused total strangers to be nicer, and friendlier with me. As well as all of the other special attention you get while pregnant.

Mood Changes:
I developed lots of mood swings while pregnant. Sometimes I would have fits of anger over nothing. Other times tears and panic attacks. I felt as if I had no control. My husband tiptoed around me never knowing what would set me off. Now I wasn't always like that with each pregnancy but you have to expect some bit of hormonal changes as your baby grows inside of you. You become more emotional. Some women experience more independence where others become more needy. Just remember to give yourself a break. Eventually you will someday return to normal.

Over all I loved the feeling of being pregnant. The joy I would feel when the baby moved. The excitement of wondering if your baby will be a boy or girl. The fun of experiencing all of the milestones of pregnancy. The total excitement when labor finally hits. The adrenalin rush that flowed through my body as we rushed to the hospital in anticipation of what was to be. As painful, and even with the sickness I experienced I would not for one second ever give up my memories of pregnancy. I look back on it fondly and envy other pregnant women knowing that I will never experience that type of excitement again. It's one of the few times in your life that your body will seem as if it's magical.
