| Naughtius's Full Review: Escape Velocity Override |
Long ago, in the days of college, I purchased a license for what I believed to be the finest game for Macintosh, Escape Velocity. Ambrosia Software's epic was one of my favorite pastimes for about 2 years. In fact, I attribute the inordinate amount of time it took me to actually *finish* college to EV. Then came Override.
For those of you old-school BBS people that want to know what it's like, think of a top-down, graphical TradeWars 2002 with a plot. The original EV was very good, and had all kinds of Plug-Ins available, but was somewhat limited in gameplay due to several factors, most notably the sometimes linear gameplay. Override has gone beyond that, developing a changing universe and storyline that is both intriguing and difficult enough to be challenging, however you decide to play the game.
EV and EV: Override are both very well thought out, exciting games with a good mix of action and story. It's well worth the shareware fee, you should try it (free for 30 days!) and see.
