Pros: comfort
Cons: price and those darn little holes that can pop up in the waist
The Bottom Line: If you can get past the price these jeans are a good choice for young men.

| tiffy0380's Full Review: Levi's Levi's® SILVERTAB® Baggy-Fit Jea... |
Growing up my mother was a huge fan of Levis jeans. I grew up in the toddler jeans and then to the 515 straight leg when I was high school.. I think jean lovers all have that one particular brand and size that they love to live in. For my fiancée Paul, it is the Silvertab Baggy fit jeans, which also happen to be expensive because of the silver tab label. He rides motorcycles and wanted a jean that was roomy enough in the thigh and leg but not straight leg so that the leg would get in the way of the motorcycle bike peg.
About Levis and their Silvertab Line
According to the Levis website, Levis were invented in 1873, Levi's® jeans are the original, authentic jeans. They are the most successful, widely recognized and often imitated clothing products in the history of apparel. Levi's® jeans have captured the attention, imagination and loyalty of generations of diverse individuals. Silvertab is a sub brand of Levis which is mostly advertised to the youth consumers. They offer other names like Silvertab Oversized, Wide legged and Baggy. Levis basically created this brand of Levis when they realized that mostly young people wanted baggy pants and not the tight fitting but very popular 501’s.
Silvertab Baggy jeans are
*Baggy Fit extra roomy thigh
*Sits below the waist with a slightly tapered leg
* 17.75’’ leg opening
*100% cotton
*They come in 8 different colors including dark, medium, and light blue and black.
My Experience:
One pair of dark wash Silvertab Baggy jeans will cost you anywhere from $48.00-$58.00. Yes that’s for one pair. Paul likes these however because they give him the needed movement for everyday work and then stunt time on the bike. I try to buy his jeans one size bigger in the waist so for instance he is a 31 waist but I buy 32 because these jeans tend to shrink a lot when they are initially washed.
I also recommend washing the jeans inside out before they are worn because the dark pigment can rub off onto other surfaces. Also washing the jeans inside out can preserve their color and prevent them from fading any faster than they would have already.
Recently when I had picked up a pair of Silvertab’s for Paul he commented that they felt thinner than his old pairs. When I compared the thickness with an old pair that had been washed numerous times I was surprised to find that he was right they are thinner. Could it be that Levis wanted to cut costs? In a capitalist mentality the perfect way to run a business is to make a product more cost effective and then raise the price. But in Levis case less thickness makes the jeans more susceptible for rips tears and frays. Since Paul wears Silvertab jeans every time he wears jeans I have accepted the fact that they are going to get frayed. But when holes pop up after the third washings I begin to get suspicious of these jeans. I have switched to washing the thinner pairs in delicate which has fixed the problem for the time being.
Silvertab jeans weather the storm pretty well though because in four years we have only thrown one pair away. The variety of the colors also makes it easy to buy several pairs without the colors getting to boring but honestly I don’t think guys really think too much about that. I think the things that a man looks for in a jean are comfort, wear ability and a few different colors. While Silvertab jeans takes care of comfort and the colors, wear ability could be better. Levis Silvertab jeans can be purchased online at JcPennys.com and at major department stores across the country.
