Jersey Shore Epi-Day - A Bird, Babes & the beach!

The Bottom Line NJ knows how to beach party LOL!
Here it is! The long awaited report of the first ever Jersey Shore Epi-Day. What a great day we had at the beach. The first epi-day was small but successful and speaking only for myself and my crazy family - we had a great time. I'm hoping the others in attendance will agree.
It was a great day for the beach. Weather in the 80s, cooler than previous humid days we've been experiencing in the 90s and a no threat of thunderstorms. I happily packed up the cooler, the beach bags, the sand toys, and loaded up hubby and kids and headed to the beach. Not just any beach, probably one of the 'best kept secrets' in this area - a great little beach within 10 minutes from my home... Windward Beach Park in Brick, NJ (exit 91). This is a beach where "the locals" go. You won't find expensive parking nor do you have to pay a fee to be granted beach entry. FREE FREE FREE. This little beach is not crowded, has free parking and beach entry, a roped off shallow swim area,a great big kids play structure right on the beach.. I love this beach, and figured that if no one showed up at least my husband and kids and I would have a great beach day. No sooner did we arrive and get set up, the kids were off and running - having a grand old time.
Shortly after arriving, I got a phone call from fellow Kids and Family Epinionator, jeavinl who is a local but was calling to say she probably couldn't make it. My daughter loves to play with her daughter, so this was a bummer. But, Jeannie is expecting and a hot day in the sun for a tired mommy is not such a good mix. So, we forgive you Jeanne and hope we get to see you really soon.
Then, I got a phone call from StaceyS1, she was stuck in traffic coming out of Staten Island.
Just when I was starting get a wee bit sad... In walked a familiar face.. Ah, a girl who always brings a happy smile to my face, my LUSH dealer and delivery girl extraordinaire, Njchicaa and her beau, Jeff. Jill was carring a small blue bag with her that turned out to be none other than her avatar, Scarlett. Scarlett turned out to be the life of the party. If we were thinking we could have made some money because I think at some point just about every child and quite a few grown-ups stopped over to see Scarlett and talk to her. Jill's boyfriend who Scarlett usually isn't a big fan of, was a good sport and played Scarlett's tour guide. He even made quite a few friends under the age of 8 years old.
The phone rang and it was none other than northeastgal who was wandering around the park a bit before finding us. Her daughter, who doesn't do epinions, was with her and a good sport. They brought a yummy fruit salad to share with us all.
Last but not least, late to the party - Staceys1 made it with her family and all sort of yummy baked goods.
By this time we (the epi-ladies LOL) were chatting, laughing, eating and enjoying the gorgeous day. The kids were all in and out of the water, climbing and sliding on the playground and digging in the sand. Highlights of the epi-day included killer jellyfish, fly-away beach umbrellas, beach pilates, brief nudity, and a red-head that charmed everyone.
This time the red-head that charmed everyone was not me. It was Jill's bird Scarlett. Probably some of the best memories I have from the day are of my 6 year old son, Alex. The subject of many of my epinions, Alex is on the autism spectrum and often keeps to himself. He absolutely adored Scarlett and loved getting the chance to be up close and personal with her - talk to her and pet her. Scarlett, you are an amazing bird. I forgive you for pooping all over the epi-guy towel.
All in all, a great day at the beach. I'd say that Jersey Shore Epi-Day 2007 was small but quite successful.
