To Battery Or Not To Battery--That Is The W/O--To Review, Perchance To Monopolize!

Dec 12 '04 (Updated Jan 14 '05)

The Bottom Line Share your fun here!!!

This weekend, I made up my mind that I was going to finally share some of my Monopoly Memories.

After reading a comment left by Don_Krider telling of some of his own memories, I decided that it would be great to have a W/O with the following rules:

1. Reviews must be new ones that are posted between my 52nd birthday (December 12, 2004) and January 31, 2005, which is either the the 60th birthday of my cousin, Phil (mentioned in my own memories), or else the day after his birthday. Right now, I can't remember. I just know that I send him a card around that time each year except when I get sidetracked.

2. Your review(s) must be about any of the various Monopoly games listed here--and there are plenty to pick from.

3. Share your special memories in such a way that people will want to go out and buy the game(s) you review because you seem to be having fun with them.

3 (alternative). If you're somebody who has an entirely different view of how wonderful Monopoly is--or if it's a certain version of the same that you have a beef about--negative reviews are welcome, too, as long as it's an honest review and not something like writing "Monopoly sucks!" over and over again or else some kind of rant that's aimed at putting people down disguised as a Monopoly review.

Okay! This is actually a two-part W/O. Write for one or both parts. Enter as many reviews as you wish between now and January 31, 2005.

The one I've mentioned above is called AJ's Monopoly Memories W/O.

Make sure that it's identified somewhere in your review (i.e. title, bottom line, body of review) as either that or else the abbreviated version: AJ's MM W/O

The second part is called AJ's Batteries Not Needed W/O or AJ's BNN W/O.

This is a review of any sort of board/table game (among the ones listed here) that are actual traditional board/table games that require no batteries, electricity (not counting lighting, heat, etc. in the room they're played in of course), or the like in order to be operated.

It can be a board/table game for any age group from Candyland to Scrabble.

The reason I put the "table" option is to show that it doesn't necessarily have to include a board to play on--meaning that games such as Uno and Old Maid are also welcome.

It's just that these games must be people-powered and the kind that would fall under the category of table games or parlour games as opposed to action games such as soccer.

The thing to do is to make the reader feel as if he/she is right there with you while you're playing the games!

I'm going to now make sections.

When you've written your review, include the URL for it and which category its in using the comment section of this item.

As I find the time to do it (Will be away from my computer and/or having it upgraded during much of this month, but will still find time to keep up with this project, though it might not be instant potatoes), I'll make them into live links and post them here.

Have fun--and thanks, in advance, for filling up the spaces below...

One more thing: If you have a game you'd like to review but it isn't listed among the games in the review categories, feel free to place it under an appropriate category in the Writers Corner section.
