SCI-FI MOVIE MADNESS - 10 Of The Best Sci-Fi Movies

Dec 16 '03

The Bottom Line SCI-FI MOVIE MADNESS - 10 Of The Best Sci-Fi Movies

Let's take a look at the goodness...

FANTASY:

Lord Of The Rings Trilogy - Most everyone knows this story...Middle Earth is threatened by Lord Sauron and his minions. Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn, and others unite to fight off evil and eventually destroy the One Ring, sought by Lord Sauron, and bring peace to the world. The cast is amazing! The directing and cinematography are both outstanding. All three movies are well worth watching and certainly worth buying! Be prepared for a long sit though all the movies are around 3 hours long! Lord Of The Rings is perhaps my most favorite trilogy of all time.

Harry Potter - Ahh...Harry Potter, can't even leave a bookstore without getting his picture taken! Harry Potter and his friends all have a special place in my heart. (just kidding) But seriously, these are some really good movies and they aren't just for kids! The books are great too. I have all five and I can't wait for the next two. As for the movies, Chamber of Secrets is much better than Sorcerer's Stone. I'm really looking forward to The Prisoner of Azkaban! But I'm sad they had to get a new Prof. Dumbledore. They should have cast Ian McKellen!

Star Wars - The whole franchise is killer! The newest two aren't as good as the original three but they are still fun to watch. I look forward to Episode III, or whatever it's called. My favorite new one is Episode II and my favorite original is Return of the Jedi, I like the Ewoks. The Ewok movies are pretty good too, there's two or three I think. George Lucas is a good director.

SCI-FI:

Back To The Future - This is a classic franchise. I'm not a big fan of Michael J. Fox, but I liked these movies. I like one where Fox goes back to the wild west. That one's pretty good. I never did like the Delorean though, I thought it was a cheesy lookin car. Michael on those flying skateboards was cool though.

Alien - Aliens (the sequel to Alien) is the best of the Alien movies. Sigourney Weaver hasn't had a good role in a movie since this franchise ended, far as I know (she's not that good). Aliens...implant their eggs in your stomach, yum, and watchin the Alien shred its way out of the host's body was always enjoyable. There are four Alien movies, they started in 1979 with Alien and ended in Alien: Resurrection in 1997.

Terminator - The three movies that make up the Terminator trilogy are all pretty good. I didn't much like the first one (Terminator) but I really liked Terminator 2: Judement Day. T3 was kind of weak. Machines have taken over the future. Arnold ("Da Gov'na") Schwarzenegger plays a T101 (100?), in the first movie he tries to kill Sarah Connor, in T2 he tries to save Sarah & John Conner from a T1000, in T3 Arnold is trying to save John Connor and Kate (Connor's future wife). They are sort of redundant movies with similar action. But nevertheless they are still fun to watch.

The Matrix - Neo (Keanu Reeves) is The One like Jet Li in a trilogy that has made an impact on the entire movie industry. Once controversial, now loved by most, The Matrix is an intriguing and unique movie. Though the two sequels (Matrix Reloaded & Matrix Revolutions) are far from the greatness of the original, all three are fun to watch. Which color are you? Red or Blue?

Star Trek - I'm not a big fan of the original TV series because they were just too cheesy and predictable. I really liked Star Trek: The Next Generation (the only good Star Trek TV show). However, I liked all the movies. But I still need to see the newest Star Trek movie (Nemesis). My favorite movie was First Contact (1996). The Borgs are assimilating all...you cannot defeat them! You will be assimilated!

X-Men - The first X-Men was pretty good but X2 wins out by far! I really liked the addition of The Incredible Nightcrawler (as he was known in ze Munich zircus). I think the storyline is much more interesting too. I liked how there was mutant vs. mutant fighting and mutant vs. human fighting. Wolverine against Lady Deathstrike was wicked and the acting was great! The scenes where Nightcrawler attacks everyone at the White House to get to the President was awesome! I would like to see the addition of Beast, Jubilee (she was briefly in X2), Archangel, Colossus (show us more, he was in X2), Juggernaut, Cable, and one of my favorite characters - Gambit. This is going to be a good franchise, the X-Men are great.

Spider-Man - Those damn radioactive spiders, what a health threat! Why didn't the city officials get on this case like white on rice? Just kidding...actually if I could get those super powers, I'd let one bite me! And I hate spiders! But anyway, the movie was great and the sequel should be good too, it's gonna have Dr. Ock (otherwise known as Dr. Octopus) in it. Willem Dafoe who played the Green Goblin did a great job. I liked the part where the Green Goblin throws one of his pumpkin bombs at the folks on the balcony and they all are just incinerated...nice special effects. Tobey McGuire is perfect for the part of Spider-Man! Kirsten Dunst was great, I thought she did well I haven't really like her other movies. The kissing scene in the rain was nice...
