~~ORIGINS~~ME?? OBSESSED WITH ORIGINS SKIN CARE?? OF COURSE NOT!!

The Bottom Line For those of you living under a rock (like me a year ago!), Origins has lots of natural but luxurious, high-quality skin care products almost anyone can pamper themselves with.
Just one short year ago, I had actually never heard of Origins: a high quality, high priced line of Beauty and skin care products sold inside many high end department stores and online at www.origins.com. But, wow! What a difference a year makes! (Yeah, I know, I definitely was living under a rock.) After being introduced to a few of their skin care products (mostly those designed for oily skin types) by a few of my Epinions Beauty friends (you know who you are!) on a shopping trip last February, 2001, I must admit that I've tried many more of them since. Many I continue to love, reorder and use today, while others were simply okay or even (gasp!) not worth the trouble. But for the most part, I'm happy to say that I'm a satisfied customer overall and will be purchasing Origins products for many years to come. Only it would be so much easier on my pocketbook if their prices were a bit more reasonable, but alas, those on a budget may balk initially. Unfortunately, beauty does come at a price, though. Read on to find out more about this company and a few of the products they sell.
~~~The Company~~~
Origins is a well known cosmetics company that sells high quality skin care products designed for oily, combination, dry, and sensitive skin types, and their popular Beauty counters can be found inside many high-end department stores throughout the country. Featuring lots of great skin care products for both men and women, this company makes it easy to find ways to pamper yourself and find products containing natural ingredients to make taking care of your skin a more enjoyable experience. According to information found at their website: Origins is all about finding new and different answers to age old problems, taking control of how you treat your body, and enhancing the way you look and feel, inside and out. To this end, we use aromatic essential oils and botanical extracts in our collection of Origins Skin Care, Color, Bath/Body, Lifestyle and Sensory Therapy products. For those concerned about the environment, Origins uses very minimal packaging, and a good portion of what they do use is made from recycled materials. And animal lovers will be glad to know that no animal ingredients can be found in any Origins products, and they do not test on animals either.
~~~The Stores~~~
While I have only physically visited one Origins store to date, I have made numerous purchases at their website, which can be found at www.origins.com. However, I do remember how natural and "homey" the store felt, and how they use lots of "earthy" colors (browns, oranges, and greens) and attractive lighting to make their customers feel welcome. The Beauty consultant that helped us was very professional and helpful, and was quite generous with samples as well. But since this store is located a good hour away from my home, I find shopping at their website much more convenient. Of course sometimes it's "hit and miss" finding products that work for me, but so far I've been satisfied overall with my purchases. For as long as you know your skin type and needs, you can find many Origins products online designed specifically for your own problem areas. I have oily skin, so many of the products I will mention below may be too drying for those with normal to dry skin types.
~~~Shopping Online~~~
Lots of wonderful Origins goodies can be found by shopping online in the comfort of your own home. Of course Origins.com offers most of the products found inside their stores at a comparable price, but shoppers can also purchase these items at Gloss.com as well. So depending on what type of free shipping code I might have at the time, I'm always shopping at either one of these easy-to-navigate sites. Both usually offer great free samples as well, so shopping inside the stores isn't the only way to get freebies. When shopping online, the Beauty products are divided into sections, so it's a snap to find exactly what you are looking for. The only problem is, you get what you pay for when it comes to Origins skin care products, so needless to say, they aren't cheap. But then again, they aren't as expensive as shopping at other high-end department store shops, such as their sister company, Estee Lauder. So make sure your credit card has a high line of credit before adding new items to your shopping cart!
~~~The Products~~~
Whether you have dry, oily, combination, or sensitive skin, Origins has skin care products and make-up designed just for your skin's own specific needs. They have lots of great cleansers, scrubs, masks, moisturizers, body lotions, and even adult acne care products to keep your skin looking and feeling it's best. In addition, Origins offers aromatic hair care products, as well as yummy fragrances and a luxurious "Bath and Body" line. Even babies and pets won't feel left out as they have products for these special members of your family, too. While many of the products are small to medium in size, most are highly concentrated, so a little bit goes a long way. So the initial price won't seem so high at all once you discover just how long some of their skin care products last. Most of the Origins items I have the most experience with are those found within their skin care line, but I've just began experimenting with their make-up and hair care products as well. So far, so good!
~~~Overall Thoughts~~~
Definitely give Origins a try if you enjoy aromatic skin care products that include lots of natural ingredients. When you are in the mood to pamper your skin, there's always something to be found for everyone. I've been plagued by excess oil and acne prone skin for many years, but with the help of many of the Origins skin care products designed for oily skin I've been using over the past year, my skin is looking and feeling much better than ever before. And I've noticed a significant, more youthful difference while using their anti-aging products, too. So have lots of fun and enjoy the "new you" once Origins becomes a permanent part of your daily skin care regime. I've been a loyal customer for over a year now and certainly don't plan on deserting this great company any time soon! So it's no surprise that they come highly recommended from me. Over the months, I've purchased many different Origins products as gifts, and now even my mother is hooked! Good luck and stay beautiful :-)
