The Bottom Line This forum gives writers a chance to stretch and grow with new ideas. Religion can be a controversial subject but sharing are ways to enrich one life.
My first time back to epinions since July is to give Grannymose an 80th birthday wish. Things have been fairly hectic for me since July because of my husband?s stroke. The year 2002 has not been kind to us with all his problems while we were in Texas. I am still here and hopefully back to more writing on epinions soon. I gather that Grannymose (Virginia) and I are the oldest members on this site. It is a place to keep your mind active and growing and Virginia it is truly a blessing to have you as a member and friend. Live it up on this your 80th birthday. Letta
WHERE ARE YOU GOD?
What is this thing we call Religion?
Whence did it come? Why? How?
What was it yesterday? What is it today?
What will it become tomorrow?
Strange force, this thing we call religion! It came into man's world centuries ago, and it is still in man's world today. It is still deep and tremendous. No matter where one turns in time or space, there it is, inescapable. Wherever there is man, there seems to be also a spirit or a God, wherever there is human life, there is also faith.
It is very hard to think about God, because you don?t know where to begin!
Where are you God? Who are you? Are you in my world?
Some say you are everywhere!
Are you in the sky?
Some say, you have appeared from the clouds, an ascended into the clouds.
Is this where you are?
The mysteries and beauty of these surroundings make it believable.
Some call this vast space, the Heavens.
They say you live in Heaven, and this is where you are.
Is this true? We have reached the moon now, is it further than this?
Are you in this place beyond?

Are you here, in all living creatures?
Some say, you are in animals, in plants and in water.
Can we find you there?
Some say, you cannot pick the least little flower, but you would know.
We cannot live without the richness of water all would die without the rain.
Some say, you control all living things,
that the balance of nature is God.
Is nature the place beyond?

Are you here in my daily life?
Some say, you are with me always.
In whatever I say and wherever I go, they say you are there
Sometimes I make mistakes, get angry and hurt people.
Some say, I should work to improve myself daily,
set examples and give of myself to others.
Is it true God that I will find you in my daily life?
Is my working to make myself a better person a way to find God?
Is my daily life the place beyond?

Are you here God in the churches?
Within these walls, some say, this is your house.
God?s house is a place to worship and I will find you here.
You have many houses called by many different names.
Some churches are modest buildings, while others are fabulous structures.
In one area it shows three places of worship in three different ways,
A simple cross, a Spanish Cathedral, and a modern edifice, are you with all three.
Why do people divide into groups on Sunday, and looking for God in different ways?
Are you found in these building, these monument to God?
Will I find you here?
Is the church the place beyond?

Are you here in prayer?
Talk to God they say, and he will answer.
Must I go through all the ritual to talk to you?
Cant I just talk to you in an honest way?
Some say, prayer is mediation.
To meditate is to reflect on past experiences, review new behavior and give thanks.
Is meditation thinking? Is prayer thinking?
Are you in my thoughts and in my mind?
Some say, you are in singing praises to God?
Make a joyful noise unto God, and give thinks in singing and dancing.
To sing and dance, is to be happy.
To have a heart full of gladness and thankfulness is a way to find God.
Is giving thanks the place beyond?

Are you here God, in my studying about you?
Some say you are in the Bible, the Torah or Koran that this is the book of God.
We must read and study to learn more about you.
We will find you, only after much searching and regular study of its lessons.
Is this the place we are searching for?
Are you in knowledge gained from the Bible?
Is all knowledge gained, a way to find God.
Some say, that you are in my mind,
and each mind must find God in they're own understanding.
What makes some people wiser than others?
Are they closer to you and the great understanding of the truth?
Is knowledge of truth the place beyond?

We must have spirit, some say, this is where you will find God.
We must have vision, and understanding of ourselves
and give of ourselves to others.
Is sharing our spirit, will we find God here?
Is this were you are, in my understanding of myself.
We are better than animals, you gave us a soul.
Some say, this soul is my spirit, and desire to learn and improve myself.
Some say, my spirit is my will to do something,
to grow and become a better person.
This spirit gives me a drive, a determination and a will to succeed.
This spirit is my will to live a good life.
Some say, my spirit is my subconscious mind.
Man does not fully understand this part of our mind.
So I must seek the spirit of truth in my mind?
It's up to me to look for good in all areas of the world,
and apply them to my life.
This search for God, some say, is your spirit within.
Seek and you shall find the true way in your life.
I am unique! I am like no one else!
I am one! I can do something.
If I have one talent or ten, is not important.
It's what I do with what I have that counts.
Do I find truth about myself in my mind?
Where you there all the time?
YES! Some say.
I wrote this some years ago when I was teaching a 9th grade Sunday School Class. Children of this age have such inquisitive minds and I wrote this to help them search for themselves, just who they want to be. We put this on as a program with slides to our church congregation. The class planned the whole service and helped with the slide to give every section more meaning. I can't say it was successful as it is difficult for some people to have open minds and look beyond with new ideas.
