Berkshire Brewing Company, located in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, is a fine crafter of high quality micro-brews that are both varied and unique. The motto of BBC, as it is called by the locals, is "Local, Fresh" and that basically sums up the quality of beer that BBC brews.
The Steel Rail Extra Pale Ale is a nice golden color beer that pours with a nice head. The beer is somewhat carbonated and is brewed in the American style pale ale fashion.
BBC's Octoberfest is a nice fall beer that gives off quite a malty aroma. It is a German style Marzen beer that will probably not quench your thirst but will warm you on a nice autumn day. The beer would go best with a beef meal or alone.
The Berkshire Ale Traditional is a pale ale brewed in the English Style. It is a rather spicy pale ale that is high in "hopped" flavor.
The Coffeehouse Porter is a very black beer in which very little light shines through. It pours with a great creamy, tan head. The flavor has chocolate tastes throughout that basically overpowers the coffee flavor.
Also on the BBC's craft list is a seasonal, fruity beer that varies, a traditional lager beer, and a nice wheat beer selection.
Berkshire Brewing Company is located on 12 Railroad Street in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. A brew pub with good beer and good fare is available there. For more information, call the brewery at (413) 665-6600.
