Are you thinking about putting a profile on Christian Cafe?
Several years ago I was a single, white, successful professional female living in Austin, Texas. I had many dates in and around Austin but never the right one.
I finally tried ChristianCafe.com. It changed my life!
FEES: But from what I remember, there is a fee. Actually, several different packages you can choose from. But before you sign up, there's a period (it may have changed) of a week to 10 days that are free.
TIP: I never had to pay! You can spend some time looking for profiles that are false, or have bad intentions...report them and for each one (again it may have changed), you get a month free. I was on there for over 6 months 2 different times and never had to pay!
SEARCHES: There are several different searches you can perform to find what you're looking for. I usually did the quick match but my husband brags about how he found me. He did a search of the whole world and everytime I came up as his number one. You can pick and choose which religions, kids or no kids, where they live, job, income, how involved they are with their faith, etc.
CHRISTIANS: I thought, sure there are suppose to be more Christians on this site than maybe others sites. True, there is. But there's a lot of people (at least 3.5 years ago) "playing it safe." Those are the kinds of people that usually say one thing but when you get to know them, they're not who they say they are.
TESTIMONY: If and after you find your spouse, you can go back to ChristianCafe and post your testimony of your journy and how ChristianCafe helped in that. I never posted one, but it was interesting and inspirational to read those testimonies of others. It was one of those things that gave me hope in finding my spouse.
I've had friends say:
"So, I'm thinking of putting my profile on Christian Cafe.com. I know it worked for you, but did you ever feel weird about it. I have many friends who have met their spouses on-line. I just feel like it's a big step putting
it up there. It makes me feel like I have failed the "normal" way. I'm asking you because you've done it and I'm sure you'll say it's all in my head and not something to feel weird about. Right?"
Actually, having gone through it all, I would say your thoughts are normal and valid. It is a little scary...it's something new and different for you. Meeting others online may not be the traditional method now, but it certainly is becoming more and more popular. I also felt like it was my last resort...that I was a failure...It was actually really smart and I should have done it from the start.
I liked not getting hit on in a bar or trying to "sell" myself just to get a date...and better a keeper. I liked taking my own time; feeling safe and comfortable and going at my speed instead of some guy's timeline at a bar or other.
I admit I had a lot of weird, uninteresting, interesting or bad dates. But I had more good than bad. I liked that you're forced to talk a lot and then some instead of being so physical. I also liked that you can let someone down over the net and not have to hear them rant and rave.
My best advice would be not to settle...1. find the perfect one for you and your children. The net gives you literally the whole world to look for him and he for you!!!
2. Give it at least 6 months to a year before you give up; new people like yourself sign up everyday. 3. Be honest but don't give it all up all at once. 4. Give out your personal email and later your phone number, when YOU feel really ready with that one. Not all men are bad. 5. This isn't always true but it tends to be: the more faithful they are to God, but better husbands, fathers and homes they make.
I haven't been on ChristianCafe for 3 1/2 years obviously since I got engaged and married.
My name is Kimber and I met my spouse on ChristianCafe.com, maybe you will find yours too!
