My shopping experience with GoDaddy.com. Hmmm. Well let me explain a few things before I get to my experience.
GoDaddy.com is a domain name reseller and sells domain name registration and domain hosting through GoDaddy.com and affiliate web sites.
An afiliate web site is simply someone with a hosted web site selling products for GoDaddy.com. The affiliate site will have a different name than GoDaddy.com and unless you do some research, you will not be able to tell who you are actually doing business with. All affiliates of GoDaddy.com operate under the rules and guidelines set out by GoDaddy.com.
I registered a domain name through HomeNames.com which is an affiliate of GoDaddy.com.
To me, HomeNames.com and GoDaddy.com are one and the same when it comes to spending my money since HomeNames.com is an affiliate of GoDaddy.com.
So what was my experience?
When I decided to transfer my domain name from HomeNames/GoDaddy to a different company,
HomeNames/GoDaddy did everything in their power to deny the transfer.
At first they refused to change my registration from private to public in order for a transfer to be processed.
Then after two months passed and private registration was finally removed from my domain name, my account was deleted.
In all of the correspondence with this company, every response I received from their customer service without fail did not have one single thing to do with the subject of the problem. It was as if they purposely avoided answering any of my questions.
For example, when I asked why my account was deleted, the response was:
"Thank you for contacting customer service. If you do not wish for this domain to be transferred, please make sure it is locked.
 Go to our homepage.
Select 'My Account' from the top of the page......".
My account was deleted yet I'm told to login to my "account".
In the third month of my effort to transfer the domain name to a different company, I was notified that my transfer could not take place until 60 days had passed since my domain name had private registration removed.
Of course, in waiting 60 days to initiate another transfer, the time period would be such that I would be unable to request a transfer unless I waited a another period of 90 days because of the closeness to renewal of the domain name.
In other words, I would have to renew the domain name with GoDaddy/HomeNames for another year, therefore GoDaddy/HomeNames gets another fee.
Simply put, stay away from GoDaddy.com or any of his henchmen.
Summary
Research as much as possible before committing yourself.
