Ah, the trials and tribulations of puppy training. I thought I was done with potty training over 25 years ago but here I am again, tending to accidents. Unlike people accidents which are contained (usually) in a diaper or like product, puppy accidents are everywhere.
You let them out, they do their business, they promptly come back inside and wet (or worse) on the carpet. Hey, its frustrating. My cats have some sense of dignity about themselves. They wouldnt be caught dead using their home for a bathroom. Puppies, however, have no such manners. They never have and they never will. When the urge strikes, they drop trou and let loose.
I dont like pet odors of any kind. Nothing makes you or your home more unsavory than the reek of pet bodily odors. On top of that the carpet suffers greatly from these messes. This is not our home, we rent, and we do not want to ruin this carpet even if it is butt ugly.
I had used Resolve products before when my youngest son seemed to be going through a stage of pick up one item, spill two, and found their products to be quite nice. When I discovered this Resolve Pet Stain n Odor Control I couldnt have been more pleased.
Mine comes in a 17 fl. oz. trigger activated plastic spray bottle. I dont know if they still make the stuff in a spray can but I just couldnt to seem to get those things to always spray correctly anyway. It is designed to neutralize the odor and clean tough pet stains.
To use you simply remove the offensive accident, if solid, and spray the affected area. If you have a liquid accident, first blot away excessive moisture, then spray the affected area. They say to spray until saturated and then let sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, blot the excess away with a clean towel.
Ive tried this, a lot, and it seems to work because the puppy just finds a new area, not revisiting the previous area as they would normally do. You know, we return to the same bathroom, they do too.
After the carpet dries it is still soft, no stiff fibers here folks. It also has a nice fresh fragrance, I dont know what the flavor is, they dont brag on it or anything. It has almost a citrus smell to it but not really. Youll just have to trust me on this. There are no ingredients listed on the bottle except they state there are NO Phosphates.
When used as directed it is safe to use around or near pets. With this, and all cleaning products, keep away from children.
I cant say I am happy to be using this product, I am not a fan of potty training - human or pet - but being, at least I think I am, the more evolved species in this group, it is a training session I will win. Either that or the puppy is going to learn to love the outdoors and appreciate the fact that we live in a warmer climate. (hey, step back, I was only teasing) In the meantime, I will continue to remove, blot, saturate, blot, until this bottle runs out and I purchase another one. I would think two bottles will be sufficient for one of us to finally Resolve our problem.
Two weeks in the house and already the damn pup has more toys than me, he eats catered meals, has someone take care of his bathroom habits and has me crawling around on the floor on my hands and knees. Im all for stripping the carpet, it is easier to use a mop standing up.
If you have a wayward pup, or for those occasional kitty hairball gifts, try this Resolve Pet n Odor carpet cleaner. It will solve more than one of your problems.
Thanks,
Susi
Thanks Pogomom for another quick addition!
