| mountainhigh's Full Review: Bounce Dryer Sheets, Fresh Linen Scent |
Ever since my kids were babies, I only used liquid fabric softeners since I wanted to ensure extra softness in my laundry. Apparently, I was on "automatic pilot" when shopping and only looked at the liquid fabric softeners. I say this because I recently went shopping with my daughter who is sharing an apartment with my son while they go to college and she had her shopping basket and I had mine.
When we came upon the aisle that had the fabric softeners, I was automatically eying the best prices for my favorites such as Gain, Snuggle, and Downey. She then threw in her basket a box of the dryer sheets at a price that was 3/4's less than the liquid I put in my basket. She then asked me why I always buy liquid? It was then I questioned myself as to why I needed to still buy liquid over the sheets.
I decided I still wanted to ensure my towels were extra soft so I wanted liquid for that and I thought I would try the dryer sheets on my clothes since it was now just my husband and myself at home.
What I Bought
Eying the brands, smells, and pricing, I decided on the Bounce Fresh Linen Scent Dryer Sheets at a price of .04 cents a sheet. The smell is hard to describe, but I will try. It reminds me of a Spring day with fresh mountain crisp air filled with the scent of sweet smelling wild flowers.
The box offers 120 sheets which is one sheet for each dryer usage. According to the box, the each dryer sheet offers "time-released freshness" which means "fresh now" (right out of the dryer) and "fresh later" (clean-smelling freshness continues to release over time.
Each dryer sheet is white and measures 6.4 inches x 9 inches.
Bounce is a Proctor and Gamble product.
The Test
Now the hard part I had was remembering to throw in a dryer sheet into the dryer. I was too use to measuring the liquid into the washing machine. The majority of the time I would start the dryer, start to walk away and then saw the box of dryer sheets on top of the dryer and then put one in. After several weeks, I am now close to 80% for remembering.
The clothes and linens would come out of the dryer smelling very fresh, soft and no static cling.
The bath towels, however, came out not as soft as with my liquid fabric softener, so I will use the dryer sheets for everything except my towels. However, I did try a test using 1/2 of my liquid fabric softener and using the dryer sheet also and the bath towels were softer. In fact, I have tried this for the past couple of weeks and have gotten use to this and it is working out fine.
What I especially like about the dryer sheets over the liquid softener is I don't get those annoying little spots on my clothing like I would before, so this is a big plus for me as nothing needs to be spot treated and washed again.
Other Uses
I am finding other uses for these dryer sheets since they smell so good! I have put one into each suitcase to keep smelling fresh, one at the bottom of each trashcan, and one in some of the clothing drawers. What a difference this makes!
So, Liquid or Sheets for Me?
Since the the dryer sheets are working great for my clothes, sheets, rugs, and blankets I will buy them as long as the price is lower than the liquid. However, I will keep a bottle of the liquid on hand for my bath towels for that extra softness needed.
