Im a real fan of Gain HE Laundry Detergent due to the awesome smell and the affordable price as well as it washing everyday clothes clean. So when I saw that Gain had came out with the Ultra Gain Fabric Softener, I could not wait to open up the bottle and smell it right there on the store aisle.
Yes, that is me. I am always opening up bottles of detergent, fabric softeners, shampoos, body washes and give it the ole "whiff test" before I make my purchase. Sometimes, there are so many that smell so good, it is hard to make a decision!
The store offered two types of Gain Fabric Softeners, one was non-ultra and one was the ultra with the scent labeled as Island Fresh. I prefer to use the ultra bottles now since they tend to last longer since you do not use as much per each wash load. So opening up the bottle of Ultra Gain Island Fresh Fabric Softener I immediately noticed that it was an orange liquid inside and smelt like a mixture of citrus blossoms and a tropical fruity like smell.
Now it not only has to smell good and be priced attractively, but it has to soften my laundry right?
The Product
This product is a liquid bottle and the size offered is 55 ounces, which is good for at least 55 loads of laundry. I say at least because I do not fill up the cap with all my loads of laundry. Large loads you fill to the upper line on the cap and for medium loads you would fill to the lower line on the cap. The price was terrific for an offering of $3.99.
This is an "Ultra" product meaning the cap is smaller than your normal fabric softener since you are using less.
Gain is made by Proctor and Gamble.
The ingredients on the label are only listed as: Contains biodegradable fabric softening agents (cationic).
The Test
Fabric softeners are not only suppose to soften your laundry but to rid of static cling.
Ultra Gain Island Fresh delivers beautifully on both accounts.
I have never experienced any static cling whatsoever and the laundry comes out smelling fresh and very soft.
The most important test I use to test out fabric softeners is the softening of towels. I love soft towels and if the fabric softener does not meet this requirement of getting our towels soft, then I know it is not for my family.
When I tested the Ultra Gain Island Fresh with a load of towels, I could not wait for the results to see how well it passed this test! With fingers crossed as I waited for them to dry, the buzzer on the dryer claimed it was time!
As I reached into the dryer, the fresh smell was awesome! I immediately grabbed a towel and felt it. It was soft! I was happy and knew this would be a product kept for my laundry needs.
My Uses
I use this in my automatic softener dispenser of my washing machine and amounts that I use vary with type of laundry and load size. Most of the time, my loads are full and I use about 3/4 of a cap. When I wash our towels, I want them really extra soft, so I pour in a full cap.
Those of you who love that smell of Gain Laundry Detergent and know that it will last throughout a wash and dry, for instance your bedding, imagine the smell of the Gain Laundry Detergent along with the Gain Ultra Island Fresh Fabric Softener.
I actually rewashed all my bed linen just to get that smell after I changed our bed sheets a few weeks ago and the smell lingered for days. It was like heaven to go to sleep just smelling the freshness.
On your next fabric softener shopping expedition, give Ultra Gain Fabric Softener a try and I am sure you will be pleasantly pleased.
