Voodoo3 2000 -- Good Effort for The Money

by tinasamuels Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Apr 14 '01
Pros: cheap, works well with most games
Cons: outdated, not for new mega-needy software
I have an emachines 300. Yep. Crammed with a whopping 300 mHz processor, an (upgraded) 128 RAM, and an (upgraded) 12 gig HD. I needed to upgrade the ATI Rage card that came in my system to one that would at least support Diablo 2. When I found this card...

It may be outdated, but its still kickin!

by kwygonn , Jan 08 '01
Pros: 16mb ram, 350mhz ramdac, superfast gaming on an inexpensive card, support for 32 bit color in windows
Cons: No 32 bit support in GAMES, slightly outdated, 3Dfx is being bought by Nvidia, so tech support is still a mystery
I am actually writing this review for the 3DFX Voodoo3 3000 PCI, there wasn't a place on epinions for that model, and this was the closest I could find.
I bought my V3 3000 on amazon.com, since it was only 2 dollars more than the 2000...

Old but worth it

by sidious81 , Feb 14 '01
Pros: Easy installation, very good graphics, fast, great for those on a small budget
Cons: Outdated, limited graphical depth
Earlier this year I purchased my Voodoo3 2000 at a local Computerfest. I had been running on the Intel 82810 graphics adapter, which although was tolerable, over time came to be just too little. Being on a small budget, I could not afford a newer,...

The all-in-one performance enhancer...

by jeffpresto , Nov 27 '00
Pros: Compatibility is great / performance
Cons: Pales when compared to the $300 monster cards of today
I bought the Voodoo3 2000 PCI about 8 months ago for my somewhat dated computer. Here are the specs:

Pentium 2 @ 400mhz
96mb SDRAM
Aureal A3d Sound

The computer came with a run-of-the-mill ATI Rage Pro graphics card with...

Still kickin' after two years

by merc13 , Jan 08 '01
Pros: Excellent price to performance ratio
Cons: Don't pretend it's new
I purchased my Voodoo2 2000 PCI from Value America two years ago for only $50. (Normally $100 at the time, I used the excellent 50% off) And the Voodoo3 2000 still commands about $50 on the used market today, amazingly still a good buy. I have...

Great Card.

by FaRiDy , Dec 20 '00
Pros: 16MB of ram and very fast and stable.
Cons: no TV-out.
This is a great card. Specially if you don't have a up to date computer.
I have a 1997 IBM Aptiva with a AMD-K6 300 mhz and 64MB of 66mhz ram and this is card works just fine playing Quake 3 and Unreal Tournment. It does go slow in the new Quake 3...

by kannanmr , Jun 18 '01
Pros: Very cheap, Good performance for its low price, PCI interface
Cons: Slow compared to todays monster cards
I finally decided to get a decent card for my old computer
(A Pentium 200, 64MB EDO, 20GB HDD, CLGD5440 Video card,
14" Hansol monitor), so that my brother can play games at
it. I saw this Voodoo3 2000 PCI in a local computer store ...

Extend your PC's useful life with this

by zdriver , Nov 19 '00
Pros: Low cost, good upgrade to speed up older PC's
Cons: Not compatible with all systems, need to update driver CD
I have purchased two of these cards for installation into older Pentium based computers. I had "older" machines with no AGP slots, and run of the mill 2D cards. Installing the Voodoo 3 2000 PCI, doubled and tripled the frame rates of 2D games,...

OLD BUT HOLDING ITS OWN

by bmo37 , Nov 11 '00
Pros: Cheap, Fast Gaming, 16meg Card
Cons: doesn't take advantage of the agp on motherboards
Hello my name is Brett and I own the 3DFX voodoo 3 2000 pci card. I bought this card back in early 1999 when I started to get into gaming. During that time AGP slots for video cards were just starting to become popular but I decided to still go with the...

Pros: Great Value Good Speed
Cons: Not for Gamers anymore
I'd heard about this product from all the hype on the internet and after some research decided that I could do without such a fast card because I only do 2D work. But!!! wait.

I found the VooDoo 3 2000 one with a rebate and on sale I decided...
